Hi we bought all of our Curtains with matching bedding, duvets, mattress & pillow covers from Textiles direct

They do have shops in the UK but do not carry as large a selection as their web site.

We had them delivered to our home but they may be happy to send direct to your Condado address.

There is a telephone number on the web site . If you like what you see then it maybe worth your while asking for delivery to Spain & the cost of course

Best of luck

Jan

Hi

From what my sister is telling (she is over just now) you wont need anything to sleep under it is so hot!

Anyway, The Yorkshire Linen Company in Peurto Mazzaron is quite good for bedding and curtains etc and the prices are ok

Hope this helps

Linda

Thanks Everyone,

Much appreciated. If it means I'd save a few quid I'll float the "its to hot for bed clothes" line and see if how she reacts!!!

Cheers

I also bought my bedding from Ikea - and it was an absolute nightmare!!!  The stuff is lovely but it took an inordinate amount of time to try to work out all of the sizes in Spanish.  If you buy Ikea duvets then you are stuck with their own (particular) sizes which are different from normal.  I spent forever traipsing round trying to work out what was a duvet cover, a top sheet, a base sheet, single, double , king size etc etc - all in Spanish.  Got there eventually (after a couple of trips back to exchange).  Yorkshire linen co handy but quality not great and not cheap either.  If I were to do it all again I would have brought as much as poss from UK as far as bedding goes.  Only my own opinion of course but it was the most time consuming part of my 'supermarket sweeps' - had a ball doing all that shopping though.....................

Try Leroy Merlin

A huge place, sell practically everything, they have got a sale on at the moment.  They do a good range of blinds that fit the windows and easy to fit also.  They currently have a sale on until i think next week

I agree  about Yorkshire Linen

Was very disapointed with quality & choice.

Ikea great, but as already stated, you are then bound to purchase everything from them as their sizes differ from everyone else.

As I  have already stated we purchased from Textiles Direct. via their web page, great choice & you can buy sheets etc in Eygption cotton  or what ever your preference is.

Great choice of colours & designs. Cannot recomend them enough. Very helpful too

Happy Shopping

Jan

Hi,

One of the best money saving things that we did was to get a couple of those re-sealable plastic bags that you can  attach your hoover to.........& hey presto......they shrink to the size of a bag of crisps!!

Fill them up with UK bed linen bought cheap as chips & you will be amazed at how little storage space in your case they take up.

cheers,

Peter

Hi,

With regards to the comments about the quality of stuff from Yorkshire Linen, do you mean just the duvet covers or other stuff as well?  I'll be buying duvet covers from UK and taking them over as I didn't like the styles available at YL but I was planning to buy sheets and towels from there.  Can anyone tell me what the quality of these are like please?

thanks,  Olive

Thanks everyone,

This is all very informative. Can anyone tell me about a big shopping centre near Cartagena. I think we may of heard about it on a radio station or one of the threads. Might it be possible that there would be a soft furnishings shop there??

It is called the Parque de Medditerranean - or something similar.  It has a large Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, Toys r Us, Media Markt and heaps of other stores.  Not sure if this is the best way to get there but I head towards Cartagena n the old road from Mazarron (N332) and on entering Cartagena turn left at the roundabout following the signs for Murcia.  Then follow the signs for Alicante/La Manga and turn off at exit 119 - it is well signposted for the shopping centre.  You can go up the AP7 but I always get lost when I go that way so prefer the aforementioned route. A gret shopping centre and you could pretty much nail all of your shopping in one hit.  Arlene.

This might be a bit late but we bought all our soft furnishings at Yorkshire Linen and were very happy with the quality  and price.  All their stuff is British sizes so much easier than spanish or Ikea.  We did look at Ikea but it's a nightmare there and all in spanish so decided to stick with english bedding.  The spanish quality is really poor unless you pay a fortune. They are really helpful at Yorkshire Linen and will order for you if they dont have it in stock.  Would definitely go there again.

I bought curtains which had a flaw in them and cushions which fell apart after a few days - the zippers separated from the cushions.  Hence my reticence to recommend them.  I did wonder if their stuff is 'seconds' from the UK.  I am,of course, not saying it is seconds (in case a lawsuit is pending against me)!!!

Why not buy your linen here and take it over, then you know what quality you are getting.  I bought mine from BHS & Debenhams sales last year and Ikea summer/winter duvets which seem to fit perfectly.

Hi All,

Just a quickie to say we did a little bit of everything. Yorkshire Linens (Karen) was extremely helpful and sorted us out with all the basics in all the right sizes and Leroy Merlins and other shops at Parque Mediteraneo in Cartagena more or less did the rest. There was however no escaping the IKEA run but that was always going to happen. Thanks again for all your advice.
