JUST BOUGHT AN ELECTRIC FLY/INSECT ZAPPER FROM B&M STORES (ENGLAND) £3.99. IT IS FOR INDOOR USE ONLY AND IT DOES WORK. ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS AN ADAPTOR FOR SPAIN. THE CHEAPEST PLACE FOR THESE ARE HOME BARGAINS 99P     (GO ON JANN YOU KNOW YOU CANT RESIST A BARGAIN)

JANN WERE YOUR LADS AT YOUR APARTMENT LAST WEEK? I SAID AS I WAS PASSING SOMEONES BEEN TO IKEA FOR THE CANOPY

just got back from Condado & though the fly`s do not appear to be as profuse as those smaller fruit fly`s they still pose a problem

i saw a spanish family had one of those blue light zappers outside on  their dining TABLE & MEANT TO Ask them where they got it from but they were insde their apartment by the time I got there & as my spanish is diabolical I didnt persue the matter.

We solved the problem by eating outside at about 8pm the fly`s seam to have gone by then.

seeing what time our Spanish neibours ate. We formed the  opinion that the later the better

Hi Jan & Ham

Soorry to hear of your disasters (another thread) You can buy the zappers from the chinese shop in Camposol. If you buy them here they can be bought from Maplins electrical stores two for £10, they are twice the amps of the ones from B&Ms.

At CdA this past week and the flys are much less a problem that when our son was over mid June. He bought a 'zapper' that looks like a lantern with a central blue light and used that inside and tried the various citronella candles outside- with limited success. But, as they are not a problem now we've just got a traditional fly swat for the occasional lurking fly> Probably no answer to this other than to avoid visiting late May and through June!! Apparentley September is caterpillar month- so that's some thing to look forward to!

Hi dave & Jann

Thanks for the info re the zappers. Some thing else we will need to buty but the cost isnt to much thank goodness

Not bothered about caterpilars as we do not have any plants , though it will be a problem I guess for those who do.

However if the litle blighters have a preference for other  things to eat then maybe we will have issues too.

Didnt sound like the caterpillars are particularly interested in plants- though if they are there's plenty to attract them an CdA.  More that they arrive in droves a bit like the fruit fly's and like to settle in numbers on hanging  washing and sneak in through open doors and windows. Suppose thats what happens when land used to be open or agricultural- hopefully its a urban myth.
