Advice re Locks

Hi, first post so bear with me :-)

Does anyone have any opinions on having locks changed after completion?

Visited last week and spoke to a very annoyed gent who had had all the taps removed from his apartment.

Has anyone heard of this happening ? hopefully  its a one off ?

Any recommendations as to locksmiths would be most welcome.

On a brighter note things are certainly taking shape. The Foro is progressing  and looks well on schedule.

Cant wait to get the furniture in and crack open the first (of many) cold ones.

Anyone tried the local restaurant, bars ? Alhama etc

We heard last time we were out that some people on Jardines were swapping locks and keys as there were rumours regarding the security of some properties. Apparently this is easy to do and eliminates the worry.

I would advise to get this done ASAP. PW workmen are notoriously bad for leaving properties open so we felt worried about leaving them as our keyholder.

So we swopped our locks after completion in July and appointed a trustworthy keyholder.

.At that time we saw loads of apartments where the windows and even the front door was left wide open.

Our next door neighbour had had all of their furniture and white goods delivered and the front window was wide open and the rain had gone into the apartment. Luckily their leather suite was still covered in plastic and bubble wrap so didn't get damaged.

You can buy a new lock with 3 keys ours cost about 30 Euro but was fitted for us so I don't know where it was bought from, sorry.

I f you are renting out your apartment it may be worthwhile fitting a push button access lock such as you can find here

this will eliminate the loss of keys or keys being copied by renters. I have looked into all the range and figured that the 7000 series is the way to go as there are multiple code choices, a master code and key override for emergencies.

Of course if you are not renting it may not be worth the outlay and swapping locks with other owners is the best idea.

Hi Phil,

Sorry I can't as it was part of a furniture pack deal.

I can tell you that they are dead simple to change though, just an allen key (which came with the lock set.) just watch you don't drop the grub screw into the door when changing.

I believe you can buy the lock set from either Campasol or Puerto de Mazarron though.
