Hello out there

With the current exchange rate it appears to make financial sense to buy in the UK and ship across. I'm pretty sure I am okay buying the TV as they should all be able to be used throughout the EEC community. That said - has anyone done this, does it work, and do you need any other equipment (socket adaptor apart), such as ariel leads?

Regards the Barbie, am wanting to ship out a gas one. can anyone advise if this is okay, in that they use same style gas bottles and connectors.

Thanks for your anticipated help

Steve

TV will be fine.

Gas is a minefield as legally you need a licence to use gas bottles, so you'll need to find a random seller of such who's not too bothered about the rules........... apparantly plenty of em around if you look

Why would you want to break the rules !  they are there for a reason and the reason is to stop unscrupulous traders selling you part filled bottles of gas, faulty regulators and damaged dangerous bottles.

I know that I wouldn't like to be in the next apartment to someone who has purchased a gas bottle without a licence. Also there is your insurance to think of, would they pay out if the bottle caught fire or god forbid exploded.

Stick to the rules and have peace of mind.

Cheers

The licence I was referring to is a personal one for for usage of, not for sale of, the seller is supposed to ask to see your licence.

Hi

I may be wrong but I don’t think you can ship gas bottles on ferries or euro tunnel, the barbeque itself would be ok I think, but you would have to obtain your first and future gas bottles locally. As far as obtaining gas without relevant licence if something went wrong you would probably have invalidated your insurance by not obtaining the gas legally, not to mention the possible tragic results.

Regards

Phil

You can but the silver Repsol gas bottles without a gas contract. You will be asked for your NIE at the garage where they will fill in a form for the Town Hall and give you a copy. We bought ours at the petrol garage in Fuente Alamo. According to friends on Camposol that is nearest to them and you too presumably but there could be a garage that sells them in Alhama.

You can as stated buy empty orange bottles at car boot sales  but they were as expensive as buying the silver bottle full of gas.

In the UK my Gas BBQ is a godsend (yes, on both occasions it ws used last year!) but in Spain I intend to take tthings a little slower and assuming the weather is a little more predictable in Spain, getting the barbie out won't be a split second decision in the morning followed by a mad rush to the butchers, so a charcoal BBQ will undoubtedly be the way I go!

The plan will be - suggest a BBQ to Mrs H, pour myself a cold beer (may even offer Mrs H a glass of chilled wine), light the BBQ, ensure I follow the health and safety rules by watching said BBQ with a second or even third beer until it is ready to cook on.........

Hi Mr R (RBrettH)

Drunk in charge of a BBQ, not recommended. As a retired Fire Office you had better invite me and Mrs M to keep an eye on things. Not sure whom you should invite to keep an eye on us when we fail and accept the drink you will no drought be repeatedly offering to wash down the perfectly cooked food you will have provided, but I am sure someone will offer, you see we are caring sharing group on EOS.
