Hi to all at bdm we went to our apt at the weekend arrived on saturday and discovered that the water heater release valve which is at the water inlet to the heater was leaking the floor was wet door frame to bedroom was swollen paint on walls damp this was probably letting of small amounts of water over time we had been there in november at all was fine then I went over to the office on monday morning and the girl told me that some other people had the same problem she said a plumber would call on tuesday so I left a key as we were leaving on monday afternoon. So basically beware and turn off water at the two valves that are under this heater one is the hot the other the cold supply to everything in the apt before leaving for any length of time. On another note I discovered that some cheeky person is parking a toyota jeep in my parking space that I own and I could not use it. They left a note saying if this is your parking area ring this number and it will be moved so I did ring it to get a spanish answering machine I left a note saying to remove the vehicle it was still there when i left on monday. regards martin

Hi we noticed a leak on ours when the shower is used it would leak a bit of water out. We have left the mop bucket out under it. Hope it is ok till we get back in march. I will get our keyholder to check for us.

Whenever I leave home or the appartment I turn off all the water.  In the UK this is to limit the damage if we get a freeze-up and burst, but in Spain the damage caused by a small leak can be considerable because of the time the place is empty.  We are in Mar y Sol, but all these apartments are on mains supply, so turning the small lever valve (usually built into the wall near the water heater) will stop all water entering the appt.  The 2 small tap headed valves by the water heater simply turn off the hot water via the heater and not the cold to the rest of the appt. and are used to isolate the water heater in case of problems.  faulty pressure relief valves are common, ours squeeks loudly every time a tap is turned off and the pressure builds up, but so far no leaks, but by turning off the main cack whilst we are away at least I will be there if there is one,

Mike
