Today 's the day that the Cantoria demonstration will take place at 1200 noon. It is just north of Albox and there  is said  to be about 600 Brits living in the surrounding villages . 23 homes here are under demolition orders from the Junta.

A protest is being held here today, some people from the coast are also coming along. Apparently, ITV has confirmed that it will be covering the event so hopefully we might see something on the news here today.

Our friends who live in Spain say that british protests go largely ignored by the locals, especially the local press. The Spanish tend to pretend that these problems are not really happening. But, the voices of expats are beginning to be heard because people from all over Andalucia are becoming involved in battles with the authorities about whether or not their homes are legal.
The demolition of the Priors home in Vera ( they still have nowhere to live) sent shock waves through the communities in this area so at least people  are beginning to get some media coverage.

This is interesting for us because, when we went on our inspection trip, the agent tried very hard to sell us a resale villa, ( he said it belonged to one of the agents in Mojacar ) . It was near Albox,  and although it was very nice we thought it was too far from the coast for us.

This villa turned out to be illegal, and is one of the houses facing demolition  --- we  have got horrendous problems with getting our money back from Huma, but thank god we are not living in a house with the threat of demolition every day.

Living the UK, we can't go along to these protests, but what about offering to add our names to other petitions about house buying problems in Spain. Someone on this forum said only we can help ourselves, they are right, it is about time we made ourselves heard.

We tend to be patient, and not rock the boat so that they will give us back our money, some people are successful, but the rest of us just have to wait -- and wait-- and wait.

How right you are, we need to start the ball rolling and get a petition of our own going on line, I bet it won't take long to get enough names to make a point at least. If anyone knows how to start one, I will gladly sign it, as will my husband. We have all been patient long enough.

I am doing all I can to get the BBC to investigate, via Julia, so anything else that can be done should surely help.

Can I also encourage everyone to e mail Julia with their details, her e mail address is on the TV coverage update thread.
