Easyjet seems to have changed their boarding arrangements. Sorry about the length of link, nothing to do with me.

Does easyJet give certain passengers priority when boarding aircraft? |

We operate a free seating policy which means that you can choose where you sit on the aircraft. easyJet operates a strict priority boarding system and you will be boarded by the sequence you checked-in at.
The aircraft is boarded in groups, starting with passengers who have purchased Speedy Boarding (boarding group SB), followed by passengers travelling with babies up to age 23 months and 30 days old (boarding group SA). Boarding will then continue with group ‘A’ boarding cards, and finally group B. Group A is reserved for passengers who have checked in online, and the first 30 people who check in at the airport. Remember that if you booked Speedy Boarding you must be at the gate no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of your flight or you’ll lose your place in the Speedy Boarding group. If you’re late, we won’t wait!
We appreciate that there are some passengers who require assistance. After prior arrangement with our check-in and gate staff we will do our best to assist wherever possible by arranging for passengers with reduced mobility to board before the main boarding groups SB, SA, A, and B.

Hi!
Yes. Just returned from a short trip. Gatwick to Murcia on Easyjet and what is quoted in the previous posting seemed to hold true. We were in group 'A' as we were amongst the first to check in. Think the whole thing is rediculous! Bring back designated seating! It feels like a herd of cattle off to market. I realise this is to keep costs down, but there has to be a better way.

The problem with the system is that there isn't one!
At Almeria, as it gets close to gate opening time the queue starts to form & there is no distinction between who has priority boarding or whatever letter is on the boarding pass.
Therefore, when they actually call forward anyone with priority boarding, you have to fight your way through the masses. Coming back at Christmas some woman was so determined not to let me get in front of her that she elbowed me out of her way. Then when they started letting us through, she stood where she was not letting anyone pass & she was in fact in the last group to be called on to the plane - Madness!
This is possibly the one thing that Ryanair have got right (for outbound flights from the uK anyway) as they have the 2 queues & you join whichever one is appropriate to the sequence number on your boarding pass.
It is still a bit of a scrum but not quite as bad as Easyjet.
We flew with Iberian from London to Almeria (via Madrid) last August & yes the seat allocation is better but again they announce that they will call people forward in seat row order but you always get the ones who can't wait & crowd around to see if they can get on board quicker.
So, in some ways it is the fault of the airlines but I think that many passengers also have to be held to account.
Then it all starts again on board with people blocking the aisles, faffing around with what they need from bags & moving stuff in & out of the overhead bins. Then you get the numpties sitting in emergency exit seats with all their bags around their feet causing more delays while the cabin crew sort out their luggage.
OK, I am sorry - RANT OVER!!!!

Glad to read someone has the same views as myself, Noreen.
I blame the Easyjet adverts for causing the panic queueing.
When we went over for the New Year, someone in front of us was turned away from the gate entrance as she had a B boarding card.
I'm always amazed how many people go through with a child, Mum, Dad, Nan, Grandpa, Aunt and Uncle Tom Cobbley.
Also on that trip someone rushed past me after getting off the bus in a panic to get to the grey headrest seats. Madness!
I prefer to sit near the back as at both airports they normally open up the back exit stairs as well, although I'm not in that much of rush as you only have
to wait for the luggage. One day I'll go out with a carry-on but it won't be until they stop the restriction on liquids.
I'll have to look at the luggage in BHS that you suggested, is it wheeled or a holdall?

Hi Semi
The suitcase from BHS is a wheeled one.
I have used them for taking over a few breakable items but I have also used them for travelling in the UK with work. They are plenty big enough for 3/4 days (with a bit of careful planning)
The liquids restrictions don't worry us now as we leave stuff in the apartment you can buy all the familiar names over in Spain.
We are both quite tall so we always try for the extra legroom seats. I have never understood the people with children boarding first, apart from those with very young children. But when you see large family groups with teenagers boarding as families with children, it is ridiculous.
We travelled to Dublin with Ryanair once & this young bloke went up first as he needed assistance to board, poor devil was limping really badly & of course his friend was required to help him.
On arrival at Dublin, both of them ran the length of the corridor to get to the luggage carousels. We did laugh at their bare faced cheek!!

Unfortunately the hair products I use are not available in Spain, once a year I take over a large bottle of shampoo and conditioner so most trips out I
wouldn't need to put anything in the hold. It's the return journey that I need to bring things back.
I have a full range of clothes out there and I only take something over if I really need it.
We've just been to Ikea and the wheeled cabin bag is really good as the bars are outside it. I always find the cases where the bars are inside very awkward to
pack as the area between the bars are wasted space.
