Hi All
My colleague’s brother, Luton PC Jon Henry, was recently fatally stabbed while on duty. He leaves a young widow and a baby daugther who was not even one year old at the time of his death.
Following this tragic event she has started a petition that will be sent to the Prime Minister as she feels she must try to do something positive in his memory.
I believe this knife culture must be addressed and by signing this petition you will be helping to make Britain safer for us and our families and friends.

action to deter criminals from using knives as a weapon of
choice before more innocent policemen and civilians are stabbed
to death on our streets.
In view of the recent and seemingly never ending, spate of

we feel it is time the law of this land provided a deterrent to
those who think it is ok to carry and use knives. We need a
strong government to legislate now to stop knife culture taking
over Britain."

Susan, I totally am behind this. Living in a country where this sort of crime has been relatively minimal (although not non-existent!) it appalls me to read of such horrific stories in the UK and other press.

My signature added too, and I'll get my family to sign as well.
Until my daughter became pregnant last year, she was a police special. They are as front line as any full time officer. It scared me witless when she went on duty, always at week-ends. She had to deal with drunken brawls, domestic violence and the "dross" of society. (her words) She is 1/4" under six foot tall, and quite capable of taking care of herself, and the police are given excellent combat training., but nothing can protect them from a knife or gun in the wrong hands..not even the protective vest they always had to wear.
My sympathies go out to your colleague and her family, Susan. There but for the grace of God....

My sister lives in Douglas. Low crime rate there as the island knows how to deal with it. Beautiful place, I love it there.

I have signed and sent the link to others, I have family members in the force and they are always at risk but our children are also at risk, there is too much of it going on, affecting to many innocent families, my son was in Kingston the night the young dad to be was stabbed!! it HAS to be stopped.
