Can anyone please give me explicit directions as to where a gas bottle can be purchased (presume it can be refilled at same place) in or close to Manilva, also need to purchase a spanish regulator as i beleive they are somewhat different to an english one

Hi,

Gas bottles in Spain are a regulated item.

If the requirement is for a supply for a domestic property such as for a gas hob/oven/heating,  the initial supply can only be provided by an approved authority and the installation must be checked by a representative from the suppling company to ensure that ventilation and safety requirements are met.

Repsol and Campsa are the main suppliers and have appointed installation agents. Check Spanish Yellow pages for your location.

It is not generally possible to legally purchase a gas bottle unless you have an empty one to trade in.

If it's for a gas barbecue outside then the best bet is to check around local car boot sales for an empty bottle and then take this to a Repsol or Campsa garage and buy a full bottle from them.

You are correct in your assumption that a different regulator is required; these can be purchased from many Hardware stores or AKI or Brico along with gas piping.

Hope this helps

There are a couple of places.  The petrol station after the Casares roundabout in the Estepona direction or there a place off of the road from where the Sunday market is held on the right heading into Sabinillas.

Hope that helps.

You don't have to go as far as Sabinillas.  The fruit and veg shop on the bend as you go down the hill to Sabinillas sells them.  If you don't have one you might have to pay a one-off deposit and from then on you just exchange an empty one for a full one and only pay for the gas.  You will need a different connection from the ones in the UK but they don't cost much and are easy to fit.
