Hi Vicci, I have a two year old and have made many friends over the past two years 'thanks' to my little girl! I'm not sure where abouts in Estepona you are but there is a big soft play place in Estepona called Kidz Kingdom. They have a mother and toddler group two mornings a week which is apparently very busy. My little one is in nursery now but we used to go to the mother toddler group in Puerto Banus every Wed which was also very busy and very friendly. They also have a Monday session for under one's and expectant mums so might good for when you have the little one. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post more details of the names/addresses of these groups on here, but if you need more info let me know. Also look out for Kids on the Costa magazine which is free and had details of all these groups and more .... Good luck with it all! Sam X

Hi Vicci - we don't have children, but have also started up our own business - so we know what hard work that is and all it entails! Having children seems to be a good way of making friends though.  If you fancy an 'adult' conflab and coffee do get in touch! x

For those of you with children who live in the Manilva area and would like to make new friends you could come along to one of the Manilva Mums coffee mornings in Sabinillas. We have regular coffee mornings, ladies nights out and shopping trips. There are ladies who come from Estepona and Sotogrande too. Take a look it could really help you if you are feeling lonely and isolated.

We do have a website but I am unable to post it on here yet. The coffee mornings are on Wednesdays at Cafe Varadero in Sabinillas and on Fridays at the Last Resort also in Sabinillas. Both are from 10am.

Hi I have just discovered this site thismorning and have just read all your posts, I feel so much better already .

I have been in Estepona for 6 months, we originally moved over as my husband was promised 3 years of work in Gibraltar!!  He is now commuting to the UK so is away for 10 days and back for 5 (we are use to it as he has always worked away which was one of the big reasons for moving here).  So the first 5 months were great having him home everynight, the last month has made me realise how lonely I am, my parents were over last last and I took them back to the airport yesterday, the house feels very lonely now.

I have 3 great kids aged 6, 8 and 10 they go to a state school in Estepona, they love it and I am very proud of the way they have coped, their is only 1 other English child in the school which is great for them becasue they have to speak Spanish, they have made lots of friends.  I however have not, my Spanish is very limited (I do go to lessons every week but finding it hard) and where I thought I could make friends at the school gates everyone is Spanish, I was hoping to find work but even in cafes you need Spanish.  Don't get me wrong I do love it here, my kids love it, but as you have all said in your posts its the friendship thing that is the hardest, they don't happen over night and I feel myself trying too hard with people.

Vicci (or anyone else) if you fancy a coffee let me know, I have plenty of time on my hands!!

hi everyone i am new to this sight and wanted to let you all know i love estapona but only ever been on holiday there i live in uk and would love to move over to spain but no job or house to sell to move due to ill health but i still have 2 children at home aged 17/10 ,i have been reading your blogs for quite a while now and wondered why none of you have gone out to the beach or cafes with your young children and tried to make friends that way i know it,s not that easy as in the uk but if i was over there i would love to have friends around too as it,s such a lonely place i don,t speak spanish as i feel at 56 i am not that good now at picking it up but i do try to remember bits i have heard wish i could have moved years ago but it seems so complicated now that i am older what,s it like in the winter over there and schools seem great  life not that good over in england everything so difficult now if rental was cheap enough and i could get a cleaning job or something i would be over quick keep up the blog and hope you find new friends soon and please keep in touch i know i might be too old for some of you but i have brought up my own three kids plus my four grandkids so my life went on hold and now i feel like i am too old also my hubby had to pack in work because he had a mental breakdown so had all that to put up with so work stopped and now due to ill health i cannot find work for my age that pays enough for us to live on  please all keep your chin up and start something your self like coffee morning or have a house clearout and invite friends round so they can swap items you never know you might enjoy it more thanks for looking and good luck regards
