Having never been in the position to (a) own one or (b) sell one, we´ve no idea where to start. First off, how do we work out how much it´s worth and then where would be the best place to advertise it for sale?

Advice will be gratefully received.

To briefly explain how we came about it: we bought a finca and it came with it, but we don´t want it.

Thanks

Irene

Hi Irene

As a rule, unsited statics are hard to shift due to the costs involved moving them. Also many/most sites will not allow a static to be sited on their site, if not purchased directly through them. Age of the static is also an issue, because after a certain age, NO site will take them to be sited no matter who buys it. Also wider models need an escort when transporting which adds further costs when moving.

If you can give make/model/condition/size...I may be able to give you an idea of value (it will be far less than a sited model even if relatively new and in good condition). You could also look on ebay as there are many on there...in fact that would also be another good place to advertise it for sale. Also try Friday Ads in the UK there are often people wanting just what you have...but normally sited. That could be the downfall, but do try.

If you really don't want it left on your finca, you could try advertising in spanish free ad spaces...someone local may just have a need for it or you may catch someone who has the ability to move it/funds to move it and put it on their land.

It may be an idea for you to just keep it. Dry storage. Extra room for visitors. A hideaway rental. Etc. Or how about sectioning a 100m/200m sq plot and selling it with the plot (if your finca is large enough) as many are into off grid living and it's so easy.

I would be very interested to see what you do with it and enjoy your finca...I have just been looking at some lovely ones for sale with a very good agent on here. IF my health improves will be calling him myself.

GOOD LUCK and do post to let us know how you get on.

PS. If you get really desperate to have it gone, there's always the travellers at the Pigfield in Tarifa. Part joking part serious :)

Thank you very much for your post. I am sure it will be very helpful.

The van is a Willerby 780. I have absolutely no idea of it´s age though. Do you know if there are any clues I should look for to get that information?

We do have a1000sq.m orange grove behind our finca!

Irene

Hi Irene

To find out the age you need to locate the data plate. Here you will find the serial number/VIN number. Not too sure on a mobile where it will be, so have a look near the water heater, under the sink or by the door. If on the outside it may be under the skirting so you may have to remove this to look. Have a rummage around and when you find it look for the 10th digit. This will give you the age. I've included the list :

B=1981; C=1982; D=1983; E=1984; F=1985; G=1986; H=1987; J=1988; K=1989; L=1990; M=1991; N=1992; P=1993; R=1994; S=1995; T=1996; V=1997; W=1998; X=1999; Y=2000; 1=2001; 2=2002; 3=2003; 3=2003; 4=2004; 5=2005; 6=2006; 7=2007

I had a look at Willerby prices but they really vary on age, so it will be easier once you know.

Once you have found it check yours against some of these to get an idea of the value :

Be careful with that orange grove...you could find a lodger in a tourer  :)

I´ve looked everywhere except underneath the damn thing and the only numbers I can find are on a plate under the door that says Willerby 780 and 959/016.

Any other suggestions?

The orange grove - are you planning to be my new neighbour?

Hi Irene

Was going to PM you, but couldn't.

If you cannot find the plate, I was going to suggest contacting the manufacturer as they should be able to help if you have no paperwork for it. You could take a rough guess of the age by bathroom/kitchen/heating/windows/seating arrangement etc. I would avoid pulling off the skirting unless you want an exact age, in case it breaks. Not sure what else to suggest. Here's another couple of links with a little bit of info.

I would love to wake up in your orange grove...but luckily for you, I have too many manners to squat so said in jest.

I could never afford an orange grove, the plots/fincas I am looking at are peasant prices BUT so beautiful. I am amazed at what you can buy for very little. I gave up on the campsite idea for various reasons...this one of them.

Just need to get my health back on track and I will continue plotting and planning my escape from the asylum  :)

Oh wow, I used to live in Langley too! Just off Trelawney Avenue behind the Merrymakers pub. Left there around 1995. Wasn't my favourite area to be honest...too rough.

I like Cippenham...been here happily for 12years. Living just behind the village green...so you may know where I am :)

I bet you wouldn't swap what you have now, to return here...it is so different. Even Windsor! I consider you a lucky escapee!

I believe Tamara Essex who posts on here has links in days gone by to Cippenham too.

HA HA...Very small world.
