Hi Jim,

Really not sure about Country Club but I have heard rumours they are without a lot of their promised facilities but having never visited really don't know.  As for the surrounding area well you've struck on a gold mine,  there are things for all ages/ tastes etc.

Port of Mazzarrron only 15 minutes drive away  has just been refurbished and the choice of restaurants is fantastic, you have the Sierra Espuna about 1/2 drive away where you can go walking/ canoeing/quad biking and there are also numerous restaurants dotted in the hills to visit including an old monestary.   The walled city of Cartegena is well worth a visit for its lovely cathedrals/squares/restaurants and then Murcia for the shopping.  We have owned in this area for 3 years now and have only touched the surface.  Would recommend site seeing in the cooler months April & October and lying by the pool/beach in the sweltering summer months, you are aware that this is the most arid part of Spain and the warmest, temps can rech mid 40s in the height of summer.

If you want to stay in little Britain look on Camposol, if you like golf look at Condado del Alhama but if you have unlimited funds go for a drive along the coast and buy a lovely bungalow overlooking the beach.

New airport opening about 20 minutes away in 2012, Paramount building again about 20 minutes away, Mazzarron council have applied for planning permission for water park next to Country club, good idea to sign up to a website called "Simply Networking as they advise of all that is going on within the Murcia region

Hope you find the info useful and good luck with you search.

Ali

Whatever you do good luck

Ali

Hi Bermuda,

Just google Huma who were the developers at this Country Club and then go there and make up your own mind.  Good luck - just find a very good independant solicitor to make sure all is in order.  The whole area is lovely.

Mazarron Country Club was originally called Mazarron Golf & Country Club

The builder obviously thought it was easier to rename the place rather than actually fulfill his obligations and build a Golf Course!

He has since been sued but it is a long slow process here in Spain.

He lost his deposit of 1.7 million but that will be used to complete some of the works he failed to do, such as connecting the electricity supply. Until recently, half of the urbanization was still running on oil generator.

I live in the arae and know a couple of people who live there and they say its a nice area but lacks services as there is only one restaurant and no bars or shops.

Completed homes appear to be well built, which cannot be said for the adjacent complex of Camposol where hundreds of homes have severe build quality problems and where the builder (Masa) has left the site and is being persued in the courts foir failing to complete roads, electric and water infrastructure etc.

This area of Murcia is beautiful in places, has an amazing dry and sunny climate and allows for a healthy lifestyle that is a real joy.

But at the end of the day, its all down to personal choice.

A previous responder said why not look along the coast for a villa. If your funds spread that far, its a nice option. The coast is lovelly in both Mazarron and slightly further south in Aguilas too.

Good luck

MCC has had it's share of problems but most of the owners like living there and build quality appears good

Lots of choice just now so make sure you have a look along the coast via San Juan de los Terreros to Mojacar-lost of good deals and this area is perhaps not so isolated

Also look  inland at Huercal Overa and local villages such as El Saltador

Mazarron Country Club

One other important aspect of buying in Spain is using a good solicitor and being careful when choosing an estate agency.

Some have terrible reputations, such as Luz Del Sol in Camposol who are quick to take your money but are content selling illegal properties to unwitting buyers and charging commissions to sellers even when the agncy failed to sell the property - so I have been told directly by some unhappy home sellers.

I would suggest, Don't Buy For Cash. Use a local bank for at least a part of the purchase and take their advice!

All the best whatever you decide.

To apply some facts to this thread......

MCC was indeed a victim of the financial crisis and the licence problems associated with Almanzora Country Club and has remained uncompleted in about half of its area for some 4 years but in reality that situation exists across the length and breadth of Spain not just Murcia.

The very proactive community at MCC indeed did take the developer to court for unfinished facilities and was awarded a total of €8.2 million of which it has taken receipt of €1.5 million less solicitor costs. The members of the association have voted for this money to be used for the completion of the infrastructure, final road surface, electricity, sewage system upgrade, street signs and green areas.

The properties constructed are of the highest quality and the urbanisation is one of the nicest in Murcia, if you like urbanisations you could do much worse, if not there are very many ' country' properties around Mazarron and district.

Unlike Condado we don't have a golf course ( and avery nice golf course they have) BUT we do have a very Spanish restaurant which will serve very authentic and delicious Spanish fare or a good take on the English variety ... 7days a week, 52 weeks of the year and Sunday evening apart when he closes at 8pm, from 9am till midnight or when the last person leaves.

We do have one of the most beautiful communal pools in the area however it is only open during June - September and there is a charge, it is not owned by the community but operated in the grounds of and by the restaurant owners.

We are 5 minutes from the shopping town of Mazarron or the Spanish or English Supermarket, shops and bars of Camposol and 15 minutes from the ever improving Port of Mazarron, the beuatiful beaches of Bolnuevo and some very nice restaurantsin all area...., 35 minutes from a major shooping area in Cartegena and will be 30 minutes from the new Airport of Corvera.

There is a genuine community spirit and the finances of the Community are in excellent shape, the estate is now well maintained and plans are nearing completion for the start of the work to finish the estate, have a drive on one weekend , come in from the motorway and you can't help but be totally impressed by the view as you enter.

We have very many natural walking areas quite literally on our doorstep the moment you leave the estate and we have taken a major step to securing the area with the recent introduction of CCTV of the highest quality available.

There are many notions and rumours abour various urbanisations including MCC, come and have a look, you will not be disappointed indeed I am sure ( if you have no bias against urbanisations in general) you will be impressed.

Regards

Barry
