Hi, has anyone tried The Wok in La Cala de Mijas? It is where the old El Fogon Restaurant was (thank God it´s gone, that was baaaadddd).

Would be interesting to hear any reviews of the new place.

Thanks, Jane

 Hi Jane

I don't have any idea about the one in La Cala, but I went to the one on Marbella Golden Mile just last weekend and it was brilliant.  My boyfriend doesn't eat meat and there was more than enough choice to keep him very happy too.  If you like sushi then there is also a reasonable selection.  Most importantly, they are constantly refilling the serving dishes so the food is kept fresh.  Then of course there is the cook to order section with a huge array of fresh veg including lovely green asparagus, chicken and beef, prawns, salmon, plus desserts and ice cream.  Cost is 10.99eur per person.  They obviously make their money on the drinks which a just a little more expensive than the norm, but not astronomically so.  I think that a pint of lager was around the 3.25eur mark.

Its just a few minutes walk from the promenade too, so a nice way to spend an afternoon or early eve.  Highly recommended.

(it's just occured to me that I should probably be posting this in restaurant reviews!!  sorry  ;)

Haven't been myself yet but here is more info and the reviews look good. Can't wait to try it when next out there. Agree with your comment re : El Fogon. Lived there 2 years and it was nearly always empty and one of the dearest places to eat.
