It has been announces that the Beeb will make a version of the iPlayer available for use outside of the UK, with no need to be using proxy servers, but you will need an iPad. Full details on the Guardian website.

I don't know why they are doing this just for the iPad. Why don't they also enabled a subscription model for people to watch it via their PCs?
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, they are missing out on a huge potential revenue. Not everyone has an iPad but most people do have a PC.
