Hi All,

Would anyone know where I can get hold of a second hand caravan, in good condition. In the Malaga area.

Thanks :)

Simone

I would have a look at these: www.autocaravanasdelsol.com/where-are-we.htm . Maybe give them a ring first as they seem to be mostly motorhomes, but when I've passed the Churriana site there seems to be quite a lot of stock. Their website is possibly the worst I've ever seen, absolutely diabolical, so good luck with it!

You might just want to check on the requirements for an ITV Certificate for a caravan; It would appear that if it's more than six years old an ITV test is required every two years...

Hello.  I live in Murcia region & had 2 mobile homes / caravans for sale, which we used while building our house. The newer one has now gone, but I still have the older one which I really want out of my garden.  Its probably about 20 yrs old and has been well used, but it's quite useable. Depends what you want it for, but you could always make a few changes to suit your own personal requirements etc. As I say, it's 'old', but we're only asking 3,000 euros for it. As it has to be transported to Granada area, we are willing to drop the price a little more.  If ou're interested how can I send photos? - if not on this site (my first visit here) maybe to your personal email?

I see someone mentions ITV for caravans - I think this would only apply to either road caravans or self-drive caravans. A Caravan ( mobile home / static caravan) is generally not towed nor driven on the road therefore an ITV would not be necessary at any age. A bit like a trailer behind a car - if it does not have it's own seperate number plate (&  so uses the same plate as the pulling vehicle) it will not need an ITV.

Thanks FB, but we want the caravan to put in the garden so my husband can put his telescope in it! The idea is to cut a hole in the roof and have the telescope in there permanently so he can do his astronomy! So we wont be using it on the roads, so hopefully wont need an ITV on it :)

Simone,   Our mobile home / caravan will be perfect for you! Please see my previous message after FB's itv mention.  It's an older home, so you will have not have any qualms in cutting a hole in the roof! Apart from being 'old' it's quite inviting - we put in new flooring, and it has plenty & comfortable seating around lounger diner area. It has a galley kitchen, bath/shower room & 2 bedrooms. If you wanted bigger space around the telescope in lounge area you could even take out the dividing wall from one bedroom, or make the viewing room from the main bedroom instead, leaving the rest of the caravan to be used for another hobby - maybe painting etc? It has 2 external doors & is approx 28 ft x 10 ft.

Looking forward to sending you some photos. Can I send them on this site?

Why not consider getting a garden shed. It might be more practical especially if you are wanting to cut into the roof.

Would it not be cheaper and less of an eyesore to build some type of shed/building to house the telescope?

Hi,

We cant build anything like a shed as we would need planning permission as Monda is a natural park, also it would not be big enough to house the epuipment.

Leeanne could you send me some pictures to caravans(at)siriuspro dot com....thanks and look forward to seeing them :)

I suggest you also check if there are rules about having a permanent caravan which sounds more like a mibile home.

Neighbours will think the pikies have moved in!!!

We lived in a mobile home previously while awaiting building permissions on another plot & under a much stricter 'protected' area with no problem - I even asked the town hall's permission.

We then used  x2 mobilehomes / caravans on our new land while building another house, and they have been there 4 yrs now.  We did not have any  complaints or denuncia etc etc from neighbours nor the visiting town hall.

Normally as I understand it, a mobilehome is only classed a permanent if placed on a concrete base.
