Help.

How can we stop non residents hogging the Padel court ?

Lesley and I bought some cheap padel rackets and reviewed the rules and after a couple of practice sessions we decided to
have a first attempt at some serious play yesterday afternoon (our last day).

When we got down to the court two Spanish guys were playing.   It was Saturday  and I suspected that they may be non-residents.
So I asked them what apartment they were from.
They quoted an apartment number  in block 9 and on request showed me key that was similar to my own.

There was a car parked up the road with one Spanish gent and three kids standing there.  The children where playing with remote control cars (I assumed that they had
them for Xmas/Three Kings).   They were sufficient distance up to the road as to appear to be disassociated with the guys in the Padel court.

But as the day-light started to fade we observed  the two padel tennis players leave the court from our balcony.
To our surprise they walked up the road and got into the car with the three kids and the other gent.
The car then drove up the road past the block 9 garage and in the direction of the estate entrance.

Of course they might have been residents but their exit suggested otherwise.

So Lesley and I appear to have been deprived of the use of the court on the last day our stay.
We did still spend 10 minutes down there but the light faded rapidly.

On reflection many people may have keys similar to the DV door keys as it's a common type of lock.
So what can we do to prevent these weekend users who have the cheek to pretend they are residents when challenged?

My thoughts are if you don't have the key ring with the actual plastic tag with apartment number  and there's a car near by
and it's Saturday or week day evening  then   ask  them to prove the key opens an apartment door.

Else I guess we just wait for the site to have gated security but I suspect these locals will have a way round it.

regards

Paul and Lesley

p.s.   Padel Tennis is reported to be much more fun  playing doubles.
So if any other beginners want to play doubles let us know when you're over in DV.

Why not contact the security on the number you mention on a different thread and ask them to challenge the players and security should have a list of owners by block.

I suugest we ammend our rules at the AGM to say that if you are using the paddle tennis courts then be prepared to be challenged and have your official door key with you.

What about getting AEA to put a lock on the court and issuing keys to all owners?  Whenever an owner/owner's authorised rep is there, they can pick up their copy from AEA.

I recall staying in a development where the pools were gated and keys were issued to owners (in fact, we may have to do that at DV also, as I recall non-residents using the pool facilities being mentioned!!).

If you see what you believe are non-residents playing, I suggest you photograph them, if they are residents they will assume you are taking a picture of the court, if not they may move on.

I think a lock and a key issued is a good idea, how about a code lock so we don't have the expense of a key for each apartment.

Should be added to the AGM agenda list.
