Hi

It is good to see a forum with fellow  UK owners.

I am currently in the process of buying one the the Duplex apartments and just wondered if there is any advice you can give.

I have heard there are problems with parking, rubbisg, pool, maintenance.......just wondered if anyone had been out recently?

I will be making a trip at the end of next week to view, so will keep you posted.

Any replies would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards

jo UK

Hi Joe! I and my husband stayed for a week there at the end of November.  After the visit we've become much more optimistic about our investment and the future of the development. Actually, we are considering ourselves buying another flat in the development while it's a very good time to buy and the prices are still very low.

Good news is that it looks much much better now than it did in spring when my husband went  there for the first time after completion, and it was still like a construction site. A 5star hotel and a golf course will be built behind Sitio de Forest Hills (even though it's difficult to say when - everything is very slow in Spain) and a new development of detached and semi-detached houses is planned on the hill side in front of our developmet (but much lower, so it will not interfere with the views even on the ground floor). The views from the 5th floor where our flat is are just fantastic. And I mean not only the views from the terrace on the Mediterranian/Gibraltar, but the view on the mountains behnd the development as well. I enjoyed very much watching horses grazing on the hill very close to the patio on the level with the 5th floor.

However,  I must add that there were quite a few disappointments as well. The patio that I mentioned could've been be a very nice - and big -  garden,- but it's still full of construction rubbish.  Having said that, I should say that we were delighted to see - at least on 2 occassions - workers trying to clear out the mess. Hopefully, the garden will be there at some point...

The pool is not running and the community is in dispute with the developers about the parking. We were told that there are currently 2 legal cases running community of owners versus developers. One of them is about the parking -  from what we saw, no one was going to pay the extortionate fees for parking, and there's some space for parking outside the development anyway.

We were told by many people - including Brit expats - that these are sort of teething problems which are very common in Spain.

We met the President of the community who is a very nice guy, and if you meet him he should be able to update you further. Khalid lives in apt 432 and I'llpost his mobile number in your private message board.

best of luck

Tanya

Hi Tanya

I am back from my trip and things are looking ok.

There is still a lot of construction rubbish and a couple of old bits of furniture round the back on the terrace that is level with floor 5.  Generally the site is looking nice.  On the drive up te road is still a little tough, but the road outside the development and the lighting etc. look nice.  There were flags out marking the area for the golf course, not sure if they were there before, but maybe things are moving.

Out the front they seemed to have cleared the area for the new villas, so I don't think it will be long before they start building.  That will help the overall look of the front of the property.

It is a good sign that the villas are being built, if people are spending 500k for a villa up there then the area will only improve.

Do you know if there is anywhere up there to buy groceries?  As there are lots of residents in the surrounding houses and apartments, I was wondering if there was something hiddden that I didn't see!

Have looked at apartments on the 5th and the second floor. So will let you know what we decide.

Overall I think the apartments represent good value for money in general, there isn't much in that price range along the coast.

Cheers

jo

hi all.

I am looking at a few apartments for sale in forest hills for friends and am wondering why the pool is not in use. is there a legal problem?

Apart from leaks, are there any other serious problems? I was told there would be a golf course behind the building, is there anymore news on this? also I ready about a 5 star hotel which will be built in the future nearby.

I would appreciate any information.

many thanks

I was told that with the change of the administration there are positive changes already - but have not been there for a while myself, so can't confirm!  The latest about the pool - that it's supposed to open at the end of July. Some cleaning of the developers' rubbish is also apparently taking place.

About the golf course and the 5star hotel - first I spoke to promoters at Kempinski, when the project was at the very early stages, but  then last year I was told by some estate agents in Estepona that the developers were awaiting for some final approval from the city hall. Don't know the latest - and if anyone has any more recent information - it would be very much appreciated!

Also, you might wish to know that our duplex was recently re-valuated for mortgage purposes at more than 155,000. So I really feel for people who are trying to sell at rock-bottom prices.
best to everybody

Hi everbody.

We have had an apartment on the 4th floor since the beginning, but have only just stumbled across this chat site.

We are only at the apartment a few weeks a year but it is sometimes used by family and friends.

Would like to hear from any one with updates or even have a drink together ,if we are out there at the same time.

Regards.

John and Debbie
