To our fellow neighbours in Apartments at Forest Hills

Hi Tanya and all our other neighbours!

Kev & I bought an Apartment 4 years ago just before the owner/Building Director went bust! As the new owner took over, we were lost in a multitude of problems as he was only concerned in dealing with new owners not existing ones.

We were given an old settee and part of a broken drawer unit. We had no kitchen and only part of a bathroom!

We are happy to say that after 2 years of DIY, shopping and painting walls, our Apartment is now complete. Although none of this was intended, it seemed the only way to get it finished was to forge ahead and think positive. We are hopeful that one day this Development will be complete and we will be able to reap the benefits.

We were out there in April and the pool still wasn't usable - in 2 weeks time (5th of July) we will be there again, hopefully the sun will be shining and some progress will be noticeable?

We haven't managed to get to a meeting yet as they are always planned for when we aren't there - we rely on others to keep us up to date.

If everyone sticks together we can see this through and not be beaten. If anyone wants to meet up with us between 5th - 20th July, please let me know

Helen & Kev

Hi Helen - it's Helen!

Hope you had a lovely holiday and the weather was better than in the UK!

I won't hold my breath to the pool being finished but has anything changed since the last time you were there?

There was a community meeting the day before we got there in June so I wonder if you had a copy of the minutes pushed under your door?  If you did, can you translate any of it?

Speak to you soon.

Helen

Hi neighbours,

Steve & Jan here, we have never posted before as we have only just discovered this message board. We bought an apartment off-plan when the sales hut appeared on the road up to Forest Hills (we were visiting family who live in one of the existing villas  in Forest Hills).  The problem we have with our apartment is the damp patch on the ceiling caused by a leaking drain on the terrace above us, this is apparently a  "feature" of many of the apartments. The problem was highlighted by the relatively wet winter, we have repaired and repainted the ceiling but we are sure it will reoccur as soon as any significant rain falls. Having spoken to our immediate spanish neighbour, who is resident and who speaks very good english and has a similiar damp patch, it is common throughout the block but apparently there is some sort of legal action ongoing to try and get repairs carried out, obviously if anyone has any more info we would be delighted to hear it.
We have just returned to England today (23/07/07) following a short a break at the apartment, the good news is the weather was hot and sunny in forest hills, the bad news is there seems to have been no further progress on the pool. Its still full of dust and dirt and the area around it has still not been finished. As posted elsewhere the tennis club has a new wall and several newly surfaced clay courts but little else seems to have changed since our last visit a few weeks ago. Any further news updates gratefully received. Jans brother Dave (co-owner) is out there in a few weeks time, we'll post any further news if there is any.

Steve & Jan

Hi Steve & Jan

I concurr with you on the leaky drain.  We own one of the duplex's and it's our drain that's leaking into our downstairs neighbours apartment.

We've had a temporary fix put in place (which was a right mess and we had to re-paint the whole balcony area - not my idea of a relaxing weekend break!!) and our Spanish neighbours who we share the drain with said that a plumber is coming out to fix it, but I won't hold my breath that it will be done in time for the in-laws who are visiting end of August.  So frustrating!

Good to hear you got some sun anyway

Helen
