Taking my LHD UK Plates car to Spain

Hello to all of you,

Colin and I have just returned from four weeks in San Cayetano. During that time we have managed to almost finish fitting out and furnishing our Penthouse. We are going back out in January to do a bit more.   I want to reassure any of you who may have doubts, but I am sure none of you do, what a WONDERFUL place it  is. We met up with Tina and her family and I must say what a fantastic family they are. (Tina you are just what I expected and I miss you already). They were able to help us with so much, especially Jaime with his Spanish. Jack and Gillian in the bungalow below also proved to be a godsend. Two ladies (sorry I have forgotten their names) organised a BBQ where we were able to meet lots more of the residents.

The land in front of our Penthouse is still a "builders yard" but we were told that it is going to be cleared and hopefully landscaped next month. (watch this space). When we arrived,  there were seven cranes in situ but when we left there were only four so that is a good sign.   The builders were very busy and by the looks of things they are running to schedule, so all of you who are waiting to move into your Spanish homes,  it won't be long.

Just one more thing. The Spanish people who run the shops in the village are so friendly and helpful. So if your Spanish isn't very good, which mine isn't,  don't worry because they are very patient and will do their best to help. What you have to remember is they are in no hurry so make sure you allow yourself enough time. Oh it is bliss. How I wish I was still out there.

Hi Gill and Colin, it was lovely to read your message and it just reassures me that we are doing the right thing.  Our Quad is ready in March and even though I am soooo! excited I still get 'waves' of  nervous jitterbugs!    Anyway, in another few hours we'll be there for a week and I can't wait   Hope to see a few people whilst we are there.  Will be taking lots of pictures.

It was nice to read your post it brought a smile to us. we put our house on the market a week ago and it sold within 4 days its starting to hit home now what we are doing its scary.

Phase 5...........Plot 56

Hiya All

We've just got back and it really is looking great. We met up with tinasolera, rob.jules and vox populia which was good fun. I think our neighbours are all like minded people. I spoke briefly to volfen but was unable to get to the site on the day that they were going (ours was a flying visit really).

Tina & Jules are lovely and gave us some great tips and ideas that can only come from already living there - lucky things.

I did manage to sneak into some of the almost finished quads and I took lots of photos - I'm still trying to upload them but I will keep trying. I'm thrilled that Iain & Wendy's house sold so quickly. I hope ours does when we put it up in the new year. Where will you live?

February can't come soon enough!

hi Donna and andy,great to see some new pics.Thats our quad,the one with the cross in the top window .Good to see its come on a bit since we were last there at the start of sept,its now got the wall outside,built,and even a gate.Good luck with your house sale,we have had ours on the market for the last 5 months and only had one viewing despite dropping the price dramatically.Panic starts soon...........lol.take care.

So pleased that you met up with Tina. She told me she was looking forward to meeting you.  We also met Rob and Jules and other residents and I agree with you, they all seem a great bunch. Colin and I are in the third block, penthouse, overlooking what will be the green area. Did it look like they are clearing that area? We were told that they hope to landscape it fairly soon!!!!!!!

I will keep my fingers crossed that your house sells as quickly as Iain and Wendy's.

It didn't look like it to me but we were told that it had been cleared a lot. They did seem to be well on with the detached villas though so maybe it won't be too long.

I can't wait till we go out again. Maybe if some really cheap fares come on the market we might get there in between!

Noticed you mention cheap flights...try going on moneysavingexpert.com   look for cheap flights  then you can search flights under £10..£20 etc at the moment on there there are flights from certain airports for 2 adults return to San Javier £40 all in!!!

Glad to hear villas are coming on well.

I feel we are lucky finding a buyer for our house so quick it was surveyed last week and they want to move in before xmas.

We are going to rent for 6 months then move to spain cant wait.

All we have to do now is sell wendys salon then theres nothing holding us back.

Welcome to the forum. Phase 1 is coming on nicely and we have already spent several brilliant weeks there and Phase 2 looks like it will be fantastic so keep us all informed of your progress.

We also bought one on phase 2 earlier this year. After having looked at phase one we really loved the cpmplex but there was not really the choice available as all the best plots had gone. So we managed to hold off and got in when they released phase 2 - we have a quad in Manzana 8, where abouts are you?

Did you get any idea how phase 2 is progressing and how much of it has been sold?

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Apparently building work on phase 2 isn't starting until January.

We have bought a quad on phase 2 manaza 8.  There isn't many left about 4 quads i think and townhouses about 6.

We were out in april and we really liked them so we came back to buy.

just wanted to get this back to the top of the threads. San Cayetano is beautiful. Its a special place, Fathead mountain is wonderful, for those who have the views of the mountain, its gorgoues. We climbed it the other week under supervision and loved it.

All the families are really nice here,  those who have concerns from other threads then please dont, you will be worrying about nothing... and thats my job all so my friends tell me!!!!  

The school is brilliant for those bringing kids over. The teachers couldnt be friendlier and they all seem to genuinely love the kids!! The kids all seem to be friendly. My kids have been at school since Sept and to my amazement are already speaking excellent spanish. I only properly discovered this when we spent the day with some of their friends from school. I was completely shocked and they put me to shame as i didnt know what they were speaking about, they even had the accent, i am very proud of them. I better get my backside into gear. Miceal Thomas here i come!!!!

Enjoy your investment/dream or whatever here......if you picked San Cayetano then im sure you will

I agree with Tina, I was at my house for the weekend with my family and thoroughly enjoyed the rest...

The green area behind the villas is being worked on and is looking good.  I can't wait to go back!

Tina, apologies that we have not managed to find time to say hello yet, but we just seem to be so busy exploring etc. You're right there are just so many places to go. We are really glad you are enjoying it so much.

I must have a go with my Michel Thomas, we have had them for over a year now & they are still in pristine unused condition !!!! Shameful !!!!
