Hello from Fuerteventura

Hi everyone, just got a date for completion and now wanting some advise regarding building and contents insurance please.

I have been reading threads from other sites, which indicates that if the community has a full insurance, then you only require contents, but if they have part insurance you will need to get both building and contents.  ADVICE please!! Also, as you will of done the trawling of insurance companies already, do you have a reasonable one? thanks Mimmie

I am going to AEA next week when I'm over there to get a copy of the buildings insurance to see what it covers.  When I get the info I will post on this site.  There is a small insurance brokers office in the shop area halfway down the hill to the port.  We got some quotes from them re contents and it was very reasonable.  Much cheaper than the UK.

We were about to purchase contents insurance and then found we were more than adequately insured through our mortgage company - Banco de Andulucia. It was automatically included but no one had actually told us!

Thanks Caroline, we have looked into insurance re our mortgage and we are not covered for building or contents.

Hi Paul,

We were told we were covered for contents of about 17,000 euros I think and covered for damage due to flooding etc.  I don' t know if we have any written details but I know it was compulsory that we were insured with them a least for 1 year and that any insurer after that has to be approved by them.

Hi everyone, needing some advice again!

Now we have completed we throught we would get some paperwork from the developer regarding the community etc.

We have received via e-mail from the lawyer title deeds etc, but nothing else.  We were initially told there would be a package from the developer which included snagging lists etc.

Should we have received anything, we completed 4th October.

My mortgage is with Banco of Andulucia and the insurance is 304 euros for 168k building, 549k civil cover and 15k cobertura a valor de reposicion which is coverage of replacement value of movable objects ie furniture etc.

The policy is with Allianz via B of A, ask in your bank for a copy of the polcy and T & C's and check the address quotedmine was wrong.

You will get a folder from your lawyer with lots of details from developer plus your keys and garage controls. Its very comprehensive.

Same as below for Insurance for me too.

I have 2 garage controls....I have , for some reason, 2 parking spots so i got 2 remotes.  I think a spare is a good idea anyway.
