 Has anyone had problems with the above store in Mazarron? We bought furniture from there which has since turned out to be faulty, they collected it from our apartment last August and we've heard nothing since. We've made a complaint via the Town Hall and have still heard nothing. Any advice on how we resolve this would be much appreciated.

The store in Mazzaron is shut. They are still trading from their store in Cartegena , hope this helps  you.

Hi Suzy

We have had the same problem.Collected our furniture and not delivered new.We have called into the shop in cartegena twice ( the shop has now moved to a smaller unit round the corner) now and each time they have given us dates when they will deliver.The 2nd time they even called our key holder to arrange to be let in but never turned up.We are now looking at the legal route,apart from that not sure what else we can do. If we get any joy i will let you know

 Go into the shop and ask for a "Hoja de reclamathion" complaints form, you then take the form to the consumer dept. at Alhama council, the woman in charge there will then take your complaint forward, she sorted out my problems with Polaris

If you have a complaint then ask for a Hoja de Reclamaciones. It is a legal requirement for businesses to provide these. You should get a triplicate form. Rude assistants usually become friendly when asked for one. You keep the Top2, give the bottom copy to the business. Fill in on the spot. The business also fills their part in. Both parties sign to confirm their version of events. The form can be completed in English. You must take your 2 parts to the nearest Municipal Consumers Office (Oficina Municipal de Informacion al Consumidor – OMIC) which can be tracked down by visiting The Town hall. Attach any receipts. Take to OMIC within 1 month. Business is given 10 days to respond. You will be notified of the outcome.

Another way of resolving the issue, if you paid by Credit Card is turn to your Credit card company for a refund or repair of the goods. Under section 74 of the consumer credit act credit card companies are equally liable for you loss as long as the goods cost more than 100 and less than 30,000, you are still covered for the full amount even if you only paid the deposit by credit card. But it must be a credit card you used not debit card as the rules are different with debit cards.

I always pay for goods and services with a Credit card even if it’s only the deposit so I have the protection of this law. Section 74 of the consumer credit act was and is the best bit of consumer protection ever brought into being in my opinion. At first the credit card companies would only pay out for transactions within the UK but now this law also covers any transaction within the EU so if your card is linked to a UK Bank but you buy goods and services from a company in as in this case Spain, this UK based law still protects you.

The law is different, I think, if your credit card is from a bank outside the UK as this law is UK law not EU law
