I may be wrong but my understanding was that "outsiders" had access to the supermarket and clover as well as the golf course. Could be wrong on this.

I'm assuming from the comments that anyone will have access to the market from outside and not just those running the stalls.

Even so I'd like to see how the market goes before passing judgment as we usually go to the Alhama market when over and this would slot in nicely with that.

I can understand the views of those who feel it might affect the supermarket.  But the reality is that so many residents and visitors already shop in Campasol/Alhama or frequent the bars in those and other areas becasue of perceived value/service of shops in those areas compared to the supermarket and clover.

I think a market if run well and properly organised would be a good thing for the resort...might even drum up business for the bar/restaurant.

I can't see these traders making much money and therefore wouldn't expect the market to last that long. Fingers crossed.

As usual we have lots of criticism about a development at Condado. The market should be seen as a positive development until proved otherwise, as hopefully it is a step towards bringing other retail facilities to the resort. At least Mileniun appear to be making an effort to improve the situation.

I would have to say at the AGM I personally was in favour of a market area outside the gates on the car park. However the overwhelming majority said no to it, at the AGM.

My point is this, irrelevant of what we think individually on this issue, it was debated and dismissed by the majority at the AGM.

If you go up to La Manga Club there is a security gate but anyone can drive through unchallenged and use the facilities.  It is not full of marauding thieves wanting to nick sunbeds.  Honest!  I do, however, think that the mistake lies with the location of the security gates.  Surely the one at Al Kazar should have been sited beyond public areas and at the start of the roads into the properties??

Sorry, have to break my word not to post on here again but, I think we should be grateful for anything at the moment. We can't possibly know how its going to turn out, so let's give it a chance and then start making comments about how it can be improved? Yes, you may be right about it being better outside the gates but at least lets wait and see? I may be wrong (it has been known) but doesn't Al Kasar belong to PW, or the banks? So it has nothing to do with the community?

June

My understanding was that the AGM did not want a  burger van outside of the gates.

Markets are a tradition in Spain , many towns and villages have them . Mainly sell fruit and veg and at a better price and quality than Supermarkets . Markets create a socal event and we should embrace local ways .

Can't understand how the provision of a market suddenly becomes a reason to have an excuse to get on soap box again.

Mil Lev are a far Superior administrator than Polaris/RPM who only looked after Polaris interests. Again Mil Lev are providing something for our benefit.

We must understand how things are done here and work within the system, change things that you feel need changing  through influence and subtly persuasion.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

That was my understanding too at the AGM David.

Lets not rubbish it before we have tried it ............. As David says "Markets are a tradition in Spain" Lets go with the tradition and enjoy the Spanish life!

I say well done to ML, its brilliant  that they have been trying to arrange things on our behalf , i doubt this is one of their duties.  People on here moan (unfairly) about being a ghost town and as soon as we get a step in the right direction they  find something else to moan about or find fault in., these few people project an unfair image of Condado to potential buyers, an in effect are possibly slowing  down the development of CDA. It stands to reason the more properties sold the more footfall in Al Kazar - the more viable a business opportunity , we will get more facilities eventually , i have no doubt, but we need to help promote the resort. This market could  bring more visitors and encourage the use of the town more .

Agree with most, lets wait and see.  As security seems to be an issue, would I be right in thinking that the visitors to the market will have to park their vehicles outside the gates as the carpark will be rather full of stalls and the like, therfore people on foot aren't going to be sooo much of an issue as people in cars as regards to security. Just  thought.

Ali

P.S. Welcome back June.

Sat market, great idea, but should it not be on the outside of the security gates as there is ample space in the car park there!

The have been busy here putting up lots of signs for the Market next week and I have been to Alhama Market this morning and they have got people handing out leaflets advertising the Market.  The idea is to try and bring interested people in to the town centre and take up the units as well as promote the resort, they can't really do that if the market is outside the resort walls!!!  I think it is common sense that they will be asked to park outside and walk in I can't see security allowing people to bring their cars into the resort.......  Let's give them some credit........  shouldn't we????

If its even just a small version of the Alhama Market it will be well worth having a look.

Don't think security is the big issue as if people arrive on any saturday night and say they are going to the clover for a drink I'm sure they are allowed in.

Yes some people are clearly missing the point here - ML are trying to generate interest in our resort by bringing more people in, I am sure there is a simple way of making clear of who the visitors are and how many are inside the resort and making sure they have all left at the end of the night.

At the end of the day if it brings extra custom to the resort then I am all for it and more so if it attracts new business inside of Al Kasar.

I think everyone who goes through the main gate should be booked in even when there are three or four people in a car and when they  leave they should be booked out and  then they would know that none of the visitors are left on Condado by the end of the night.  I know that when we come to condado they only ask the driver for his details not everyone who are in the car? Well good luck for next Sat?      Malc

I can't believe the negative attitude towards visitors on our resort. The comments are also really derogatory towards market traders.

What would have happened if the shopping centre had of gone ahead or what happens when myself and other owners have rented out their apartments should we be checking their cases and pockets?

Are the british really that pessimistic. We are only guests in Spain and should not forget this.

Carla

Not pessamistic, just realistic and protective towards all owners, all visitors and their property.  It would be naieve to assume everyone is honest and trustworthy.  What is the point of having security gates, and security checks which everyone agreed to and support  if anyone can drive in with a van, have full access to all areas and not be stopped and checked at the gate?

I support the idea of a market, it will bring some interest to the place and I hope it is well supported by the residents, but this does not mean that we can overlook the security issues.  No disrespect meant to market traders either, but like everyone else I am entitled to my own views and opinions.

I understand people who have issues about the security.

But we are going to have to accept that Al Kasar will be the main shopping area now and that people will have to access to this area of the resort.

If it makes people feel better ML could possibly block off the access to the resort after Al Kasar and have residents/guests use the Security gate at the Jardines side.

Surely the easiest answer is to ask non residents to park in the ample spaces outside the security gates and simply walk through the gates ???…… Simple

I always assumed the high fences, barriers and security guards were to keep people in?

Reading this thread looks like I was wrong??
