Pergola painting

I suppose the key question is why does the woodwork really need treating?

1. Cosmetic reasons.

2. Woodwork preservation.

3. Because someone has spotted an opportunity to make money.

As I have said previously on this thread, I'm not entirely convinced ML are acting in OUR best interests on this matter.

 To be fair  alot of the woodwork does need treating ,you will notice that the blocks of wood are not in 1 piece. rather that it is various pieces squashed and glued together. Once you administer the preserver you will notice how much is soaked up.

As far as paying for it is concerned ml had 3 choices

It either comes out of a painting fund(which we all pay for),

You pay individually to ml,

You do it yourself which is very cheap and doesnt take long, or pay a.n. other to do it .

At least this way we get the chance to keep our costs down by dong it ourselves.

hi all we were told that it will get done every 5 years and the cost will come out of the managers fund so in that case they can pick the colour . but if I'm paying for it again i will pick it .its my place and my money .as far as i am concerned pw has washed their hands of us[ taken our money and ran ]  pw have made it clear that i got do my own repairs and up keep so be it .ITS MY PROPERTY  MY MONEY I WILL DO MY PAINTING IN MY TIME AND MY COLOUR .IF THEY WANT TO TELL ME WHAT COLOUR AND WHEN. THAN GIVE US OUR TEN YEAR GUARANTEE

if someone  goes on my property with out my permission  that  is trespassing. if pw or the community is letting people go on to owners property  with out permission then they are encouraging people to break the law

 First of all thank you for your e-mail.

 I would like to inform you that as we comment in the Mailing, the inspection will be in February to confirm that every pergola is in the same condition, if there were any pergolas that don’t have received the proper treatment; don’t worry because we will not charge anybody or start with the painting immediately without sending a notification to the corresponding owner.

 Nevertheless I will add you the reference of the product to utilize for the pergola, in case that you want to do it yourself.

i have it from a good source that the fee for painting the pergolas for all property is 261.40€ this is not including your gate.

i have repainted a few in the same stain & gate and cheaper, although the stain is not cheap and you need between  3/5 ltr plus brushes etc.

I went into Millenium office and they told me that the pergolas are due to be stained but that it is ok to do your own. I have found the colour they have specified and am doing mine and a friends. PM me for any info.

When we were over in October we got a price of €110 for the painting of the woodwork of our 2 bedroom apartment from one of the companies that Milleniun recommended.  We were told that the painting of the 3 bedroom apartments would be cheaper as there was less wood.

We decided to do it ourselves as we were out there doing work on the apartment.  We got the stain from the Tavi paint shop next to Consum in Camposol.  The shop assistant was very helpful and spoke very good english. 

Craig, your source is completely mis-informed.  The issue of Pergola painting has never even been discussed with the presidents, apart from a few meetings with myself following the email ML sent without our knowledge, so the subject of price has never even been raised.

There are people at Condado the will do a three bed for €60 and a two bed for €90,  I would expect that if we were to put the painting out to tender is would be at a price lower than this.

So to reiterate.  At the moment this issue is not 100% settled, we have another meeting in the morning.  The issue of cost has never been raised yet.   If and when the community decide to put this job out to tender the results will be published on the community website.

Nope it's not changed, assuming you are typing the correct password then the problem will be the cookie settings :-

You do not need to log in, if you try to access a protected area it will prompt for the password.

In the browser window at the bottom theres a little world icon with INTERNET written next to it.
Just to the left of that is there another icon that looks like a little eye?  I there is double click on it. 
Right click the www.cdagr.eu and cdagr.wordpress.com links and set "Allow cookies"
 
if not
go to Tools - Internet Options, Click on the Pricacy tab then in sites.

Siladacor Protector Satinado Color Nogal ( Basically Nogal Satin )

Any hardware store Camposol A  & B also Paint Shop Campersol and Leroy Merlin etc

There are various versions different manufacturers all simular but at different prices

The recommended products are either ;-

I'm told that the matt is better as it soaks into the wood more, whereas the satin forms a film on the surface which is prone to flake in the sun.

At the end of the day the choice of product is down to you, you get what you pay for, the main thing is that 1) the wood is treated and 2) there is a uniformity of colour within the garden.

Which brings us to the next point.  Not all the Jardines use the same colour.

Jardine 8-13 NOGAL, but lower down some Jardines change.    La Isla - NOGAL.   Los Naranjos mostly NOGAL but some Caoba.  Penthouses - CASTANO,  WENGUE is on the gates only.

Yes I know, but before you all start moaning please remember that this is not the communities fault, Polaris did the original staining so the lack of a single uniform colour was down to them.
