 Good morning,

I am coming over in May for a week with my mum and was wondering if there are any local markets we can visit, not too far from CdA as I will need to drive.

Thanks everyone

Carol Anne

I think Mazzaron is the best one on a Sunday  usually closes about 2pm.

There is one every day in each of the towns, I'm sure someone will give you a list of them, sorry I don't have one at hand at the moment.

Hi Carol Anne

All markets are morning only, closing between 1.30 to 2pm

Alhama de Murcia - Tuesday (small)
El Pareton - Friday (very small)
Fuente Alamo - Saturday
Totana - Wednesday (good market with good outdoor cafe/bar in the park next to the market)
Mazarron - Saturday (again good market with places to get a drink/snack)
Puerto de Mazarron -  Sunday (very large market and plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance)
Canadas del Romero - Sunday (classed as car boot sale but half of stalls sell new products.  Lots of English stalls and Italian restaurant on site for drinks and snacks)
Aguilas - Saturday
Aguilas Flea Market - first Sunday of month opposite information office (excellent and well worth a drive out - takes about an hour)

Hope this helps
Anne Marie

Could you tell me whereabouts in the Port that the market is situated on a sunday morning, I went this sunday and couldnt find it. Perhaps you could give me a landmark (IE left or right of marina as you look at it)

Most of markets you can park in adjoining streets.

Totana market in on top of the rambla, as you go into Totana turn right at large roundabout and travel along to next roundabout - you can see the market over the rambla on your left as you drive but you need to go to the roundabout to turn back on yourself.   Once you turn back on yourself there are normally plenty of street parking before the market or if you are feeling confident you can actually park on the rambla under the market.

Mazarron town market on Saturday is always busy and you just need to get as close as you can in the streets.  As you enter Mazarron the market is on the right behind what will be the new medical centre - there is also an indoor market in the square.

You can't miss the Sunday market at Canadas.  You have to head towards Camposol and come off at La Pinilla then turn back on yourself heading for El Pareton, Los Cantereras.  You will see the market on the righthandside.

The market in Puerto de Mazarron can be hard to find if you don't know where it is.  Drive towards the Port going past Lidl on your left and Cuatro Plumas on your right.  Staying on the main road go past hte turn-off for La Cumbre and the next traffic lights you come to turn right.  The bus station is now on your right.  Park wherever you can around here (the indoor market is on your left).  If you use this road as your point of reference, walk along it to the very end going past the Tennis courts on your right.  Once you reach the corner you will see the market to your right.  It is directly below the La Cumbre Hotel which you can see high on the hill.

Hope this helps
Anne Marie

Please note I have just edited my post giving directions for Puerto de Mazarron Sunday market - I put a left instead of a right in the directions so you might like to read again.  To be honest if you got this far anyway you would find it but just want to make sure the directions are as clear as I can make them .....

Anne Marie
