Hi

After the heavy rains recently we have signs of water intrusion in our ground floor apartment.  Its actaully showing in the hall in the interior walls so I think the water may be running down the cavities and running along the floor etc.  Anyway, the reason for my posting is to ask if anyone else had had any problems with damp and/or water intrusion generally or  if you know of anyone who has.

Steve

Steve, we had damp in the hallway and behind the door in the second bedroom some time ago, but it was nothing to do with the rain - it was something to do with the A/C drainage (where the unit is in the second bathroom).  There was some sort of leak in the pipes somewhere (sorry, not too technical!).  Our keyholder, Mark, got Angel round and they fixed it all - needed replastering (I think) and repainting, which they did.

I just mention this, in case it's a similar situation.  We're also ground floor.  Fortunately, we haven't had any problems with all this heavy rain - save for the fact it's been freezing on these marble floors!!

Thanks Jan

We had that or a similar problem as well when we first took ownership.  The drip dray was too short underneath the a/c unit and water was dripping onto the ceiling tile in the second bathroom.

We had to get Angel (site foreman) out to fix the AC unit in our shower room too as there was a drip that marked a ceiling tile.  It's been ok since and that was almost 2 years ago.

Just to clarify, there wasn't a problem in the ceiling tiles at all - it was some sort of leak in the pipework which leaked water within the wall, leaving the wall outside the bathroom door and behind the second bedroom door damp.  There wasn't a patch in the bathroom at all, ceiling or otherwise.

I remember thinking that there must have been water coming from upstairs somewhere.  Just a thought.
