Hi All,

Has anybody considered or already installed a larger water tank so you can have upto half a dozen showers without it going cold?  I know you can get different shower heads that use less water but was wondering about this option.

Thanks

Hi

In reply to the question of increasing the water supply for showering, it would be possible to fit a larger storage heater or to alternatively fit a suplementary one. I am planning on doing this for myself as we have had the same concern.

Hi Keninz,

Thanks for answering the question!  Could you let me know as and when you get any prices for this and which option you find to be the best and i shall do the same.

Thanks

Steve.

Why not fit a gas water heater (runs of bottled gas), then you'll have instant hot water whenever you require it.

Hi Peter,

????? how and where would you do that?  It sounds more involved than putting a larger tank in

We changed the showerhead and have found that we have had 5 people all able to have showers with hot water....in fact we had guests in our 3 bed (we were in the 2 bed above so I enquired how water was going) who hadn't even considered they may run out of hot water because it hadn't been an issue...

hi

I agree with the post  that changing the shower head will help to a certain extent but it is a case of capacity available against water used. Steve, in the process of finding a larger capacity heater that will fit in the same unit that i`m going to install will keep you updated.

I also changed the shower head I got it off the guy who has an apartment next to me.

It is great I would consider this option has it was only about £35.00 - £40.00 posted a lot cheaper than replacing the water heater.

Also it saves you on your electric bill has well, the bigger the water heater the more water you have to heat up this is ok if you have an apartment full but not if there is only 2 people renting.

Plus it gave a better performance than the standard head that was fitted.

Pm me if you want his details then i will pass them on to you.

Hope this helps

Lauren

These shower heads probably work on the same basis as heads you can fit onto your sink taps which I was looking at in Leroy Merlins the other day.  The ones for the sink were 2.99 Euros.  My friend bought one for their apartment in the Port and she said she would let me know if it works.  I believe it works on the principle of introducing more air mix into the flow (???)  There were ones for baths as well for under 10 Euros but we didn't look any further, if we had we would probably have seen shower heads as well.

Me thinks me might look again next time I visit Leroy Merlins - might end up saving some money for a change!

Had the same concern last year with my family of five plus we had the mother and father in law out for a few days.

Fully expected the system to run out and had plans to change the boiler / install a wall fitted heater shower etc but in the end plumped for the ecocamel shower head  http://www.ecocamel.co.uk/shower with the thought that we'd see how we got on.

Appreciate it was full summer so we didn't exactly have hot showers but there was plenty. Just set up the timer so that the boiler came on an hour before we needed the water and all seemed to work fine.

Might be worth seeing how you get on before committing to extra cost of bigger boiler / more expense to run it etc.

Hi it was simon Jackson that we got the shower head off.

He also gave us loads of good advice as well.

Defintly would recommend to use him as you sometimes can't trust these internet sites especially when things go wrong!!!
