Iberdrola and Urbaser charges??

Hi all,

Just found out that we have been charged for electric @ 28.86 euros? and water @ 15.02 when we are not at the apartment and no facilities are being used!! are these the standing charges?? or has anybody had similar bills when not in use??

We have recently had an electric bill for 49.99 euros which we think is excessive for the short time the apartment has been used!

Does anyone know if these bills are estimated or whether the meter is actually read?

Hi Jackie,

We also have had 25 euros taken from our account for electric, when we haven't been in the apartment plus our meter cupboards are now locked & you can't view either water or electric readings.

 Surely these electric and water companies cant be charging 25-30 euros as a standing charge? without any usage??

 All,

There is effectively a standing charge for the Electricity which is about €25 every 2 months

They also only read the meter every 2 months and estimate your bill for the other one based on your billing history. So if you happened to have used your apartment a lot when the meter was first installed chances are you will have a higher than normal estimated bill, until some history has built up.

As for the water there is also a Cuota de Servicio (Service charge) of €4.253333 per month for supply again billed every 2 months

I have two questions about this please.

1. I have heard that you can ask to be put on the lower tarif for electric and water and pay a premium if you exceed a set level. Is this correct and if so, when do you have to request this. We are in Los Naranjos so haven't been connected yet.

2. If they estimate the bill from your first useage, how does it then balance out. Is it adjusted when the next meter reading is made?

No idea about the lower tariff sorry.

With regards to billing, ours seem to have evened themselves out over the past 6 months (3 bills)
