Transponder keys for garage doors.

When we completed, we were given 1 garage key and were told that we had to buy further keys from a company in Malaga.

Has anyone actually bought extra keys ?    Does each entrance have a seperate key, or is it one for the whole development?

I am down there next week and hope to get some more keys but I don't want to pay an exhorbitant price if Priene Sur are dishing out spare keys.      Any info gratefully received.

I purchased 2 of the key fobs for the garage doors back in December 08 (35 Euros each). Have a look at the thread I put on EOS  back in October 08. The key fobs are specific for your own garage door, and I seem to remember they wanted some form of identification when you go to pick them up.

The office location is very difficult to find, I drove into Malaga and then payed a taxi driver to take me to the Tecnicas Autocontrol office location and followed him in my car, (should have had a sat nav with me!!), The other problem is nobody at the office speaks English.

If you go onto the web site tecnicas auto control com  press  Enter, then click on products, click onto Mandos a Distancia it shows you the range of remote control fobs that they have available. When you are on the web site, there is a map that shows the office/works location in Malaga.


However, the problem is, nobody speaks English!!!! I have phoned a couple of times, but I am hoping they may be open over the Christmas period when we next go out!!! "

Hello. I have just read your message. Are they remote ocntorl or just the one the developer gave to us? I am interested in buying a copule of them. The other day I thought I had lost one withe  my car inside!!!! I will be ther in agost. I am not from laalaga, but I am spanish and I could speak with them ( although sometimes spanish andalucian is very complicated).

Thanks Steve & Carol for the info.  I bumped in to Ken today and he gave me the answer.

The developers gave us a transponder key with a range of about 1 cm , but the system will take remote controls which work from the roundabout to the Block 7 garage entrance.   I am off to Malaga in the next few days to practice my bar/restaurant Spanish on the folks at Tecnicas Autocontrol !!    I have been told to take my passport and some proof of ownership.

I look forward to driving straight in instead of blocking the road while I get out of the car to use the transponder.

Not sure if you can just call in and buy the keys without placing an order for them, It's difficult, and it's a long way to go, to get there and find that you have to order.

The company can provide the same key that the builders have supplied, but with this key you have to get out of your car to hold it against the gate sensor, they also supply the remote controls that you can use when you are sat in your car. Have a look at the web site

I went to Tecnicas Autocontrol in Malaga on friday for my new remote controls.  Although no one speaks English there,  the girl I dealt with was very friendly and helpful  and the remotes work perfectly with a range of nearly 100m.

They are based in the middle of a rabbit warren of one-way streets, but my TomTom SatNav took me right to their door. There is very little parking so I adopted the local solution,  park on the pavement across someones garage with the hazard lights on !!!

Pleased to hear that you have obtained transpoder keys that work from quite a distance , could you tell me if you had to pre order them and what doc's did you require to purchase them.

We are out there in July and plan onbuying a couple could you also let me now the cost per key .

Hi Robbie & Barbara.

There is no need to order in advance, as the remote control they use is a standard unit that is used for many applications.         Just take your passport,  something  with your name and your Arenal Duquesa address and your existing transponder touch key.

They then place your transponder on a reader which memorises its code.  The remote control is then placed on the reader and the code is downloaded.   It's quick and simple and mine both work perfectly.  They were €34 each, which seems pretty reasonable compared to the cost of a car remote.

How does a rolling code work? I know the code changes every time, but how does the transmitter know what code to change to next time so that it matches the receivers?
