Hi Graham,  have just returned from another 6 glorious days on HR.  Spoke to a few folk about their AGM's,  which seemed to be very lengthy,  and very repetitious!  The same subjects were being raised time and time again,  and had to be translated back and forth between Spanish and English - would have been more practical to have just 1 or 2 AGM's and all cover the same stuff at the same time,  with some voting at the end.  However.....  apparently the permissions and licences are nearly through,  work on the new build should be started before long,  and the money has been put aside for it.... which is quite positive (although I can't help feeling gullible in believing it!).

Went over to El Valle and the Mar Menor,  and both were very very quiet,  although quite a few golfers about.  The greens on HR were a bit lumpy and disappointing (my husband said),  but we still had a great time.

Also, interestingly, spoke with two people who had never received any information from Resortalia,  and were quite surprised that they might be 'named and shamed' - because they didn't know what was due to be paid..... ??

The road up from San Javier is moving on a lot,  but the last little bit from Sucina is a nightmare,  with another little detour near the fruit plant/factory just outside Sucina.

All in all,  we had our usual wonderful time.

Maggie

Wouldn't it be great if work really did start soon.

Hi all,

we've just returned from three days on HRGR and can provide a little update :

  • heard the same rumour that Maggie eluded to - the permissions and licences are nearly through although it is just a rumour,
  • the gardens in front of the Hacienda and the area to the side of it have been totally cleared of debris and vegetation - dare we dream that they are preparing to start work ?
  • as Maggie mentioned the greens on HR were a bit lumpy but, having said that, there was a continuous stream of four balls on the course throughout our three days there - contrasting Paralleja where we didn't see anyone playing at all !
  • incredible amount of work on the roads but, as Maggie also mentioned, the road from Sucina is a nightmare - take out the tyre insurance !
  • the foundations have been laid for the tennis courts and the all weather pitch in the sports area and Resortalia advised that they had heard that there is a cafe/coffee shop and indoor gym planned there as well.
  • the waste areas on the golf course are now getting a covering of chip bark to make them look better - you get a free drop off these.

Hope this helps.

Paul.

Hello All,

We have just returned from a lovely short break at HR. The overall resort has come on well since last November, our last visit, much greener and seems to be quite busy with Golfers, despite the bad weather.

    1. Just to get the little "whinge" over first, we visited the bar on site one night and we could not stay to finish our drink. The weather was terrible (cant blame Polaris for that) but the "tent" had no heating, the excuse was that both heaters had run out of Gas, surely a company like Polaris can order Gas bottles and have them delivered within 30 mins.    We went up to Sucina and had a great time.

    2. Sucina, The village is really developing since our first visit. The new Indian is very goo and the Chip Shop will be open shortly. Some of the people of the village obviously see the potential of a large community next door. The road access at the moment is a mess but they do seem to be well on with the link road from the top of the village, all the large structures, bridges etc. seem to be in place and kerbing is in progress. I am no expert but I feel this may be ready for the Summer, if it is, it will give a viable alternative to our own Town Center until it is built. "Franc and Louise"  Bar is very popular with British residents in the village and has all the Sky channels. the Bar is extremly clean and very friendly.

  4. Overall, to look to the future, if we look maybe two years ahead, there will be a first class dual carraigeway from the coast directly past the resort with good local roads. the new International Airport at Corvera will be open serving the Murcia region and the towm Center will be up and running. (Am I being too optimistic). In the meantime the Mortgage rates are falling.

Just back from a few days at HR as well. Very enjoyable. We walked to Sucina from the HR entrance using the unfinished new road (on the old straight route to the village).
At 7pm we left the apartment, parking at the entrance. I guess not many people WALK out and the security guard looked a bit surprised, but we still got a wave.
It took 30 minutes from gatehouse to village entrance and, unlike last time, there were no unpassable ravines to encounter!
The hardcore was solid and we were sensible when we reached the new bridge - we just went around it not across.
That first pint tastes all the better for the brisk walk.

Had an enjoyable evening visiting Arco, Plaza, Donde Ayer(Swordfish/Pork meals) and Franc & Louise bars. Arco seems to have new owners?, the Plaza had a fresh coat of paint inside and F & L must be the most polished bar in Europe - very impressive. Also noticed a new supermacado in a side street

As you will imagine, coming back along the same route in the dark is, er, interesting but we had no problems. Spain seems to have lost its moon at the moment, but we used a reassuring pen-torch just to ocassionaly check our way ahead.
Not for everyone I know, but after driving around all day its great not to worry about drinking limits.
Can`t wait to go back again and hopefully make use of a finished road next time.

Just returned from 5 days on HR. I love that place! Weather not too bad, one day in particular was "scorchio". What's happening with the bins? Only seemed to be one or two in use and had to drive around the resort to find one open. Plenty of planting going on but in front of our apartment it is a little "threadbare" and could do with the extra turf. We are in phase 2 and I have noticed it seems to be the worst in terms of "gardens". I do a lot of running and whilst out I noticed that ours looks rather tatty compared to most of the others but I suppose ours was one of the last to be finished so may be it with flourish soon. Lots of golfers out, a very steady stream. We had friends over to stay one night who have a place in Los Alcazares and he thought that the course was fantastic and loved it, good to hear. My husband said the course was in quite good condition, the greens a little bare but being dealt with. Visited Parelaja and had an excellent meal and also visited their Piano Bar (very nice for cocktails girls). Now looking for flights for June!

In respopnse to Pixiepie's post, I asked Resortalia when we were on HRGR in late March what was happening regarding the bins and, apparently, it's the same problem as the lifts - they need waterproofing and can't be used until this is done.

When we were there for the AGM, the bins were up but were still being used and emptied.  The netting was there as a safety precaution,  When the bin men came, they 'opened' the netting, emptied the bins and put the netting back up.

Yes when we were there too, we used the bins as normal,  and they appeared to be emptied as normal.

In the 'Organic Waste' - which is organic as in food waste,  not organic as in 'grown without pesticides' - we have always presumed.

Does this make sense?

Hi All,

I am surprised that nobody has updated for a couple of weeks. I thought that there would be quite a few visitors this time of Year.

Those of us who can only visit a couple of times per year are always keen to hear updates.

John

I guess once the excitement has died down,  and folk start to visit and enjoy the resort and the area - the forum posts start to slow down too.   The trouble with many of the forum posts is that so many of them are negative and moaning about what isn't right or finished on the resort,  rather than how great things are!

I was over there at the beginning of May for the bank holiday weekend for 5 days,  and my husband was over for nearly 2 weeks (lucky chap!) and we had a wonderful time.  It was hot and sunny,  quiet and peaceful,  and so very relaxing.

So,  the pool maintenance company have lost their contract - and some of the pools are closed for various reasons,  the bins were unsightly and potentially smelly because they were all up at ground level until the sealing work was completed,  but we went for a long walk all around the resort each evening as the sun was going down - and could see many buildings occupied - lights on and people coming and going - and we really feel at home there.  Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine (or even a cup of tea in the mornings) is like a dream come true.

The golf is great,  the beaches are superb, there are many lovely places to visit - both town and country - and we can't wait until we go back again.

I think the committees are working very hard on all our behalfs,  and anyone who has a talent to offer would be greatly welcomed I think.  Ideally I'd like to be there for a month at a time - but that's not possible at the moment.  We grab a few days here and there as often as we can,  and if you book well in advance - you can get some great deals.   it's surprising how well rested you feel after 4 or 5 days away.

Here's to many Happy Vitisits to come!

It's great to hear some positive feedback, we are going over at the end of June and can't wait to relax in the sun.

Hi,

Just an update, we were out at HR, for two weeks in May.  The last time that we went out was October, and we found quite a few changes, especially the roads leading to Sucina.  I felt frustrated that the sign was still up but, no sign of any work on the Hacienda, evident.  I asked at Resortalia, only to be told that yes, the TC would be built but that no time limit was given.  I then went and spoke to Margaret Daniels, she explained that there had been a lot of activity at the TC, with lorries in an out, other than than she was unable to elaborate on this.  I kept going each day, just to get a glimpse of anything, we did see workers removing the contents from inside the TC building.  We also saw the roof tiles placed neatly onto pallets, waiting to be taken away.  I saw painters there but didn't get much from them apart from millions having to be spent on the centre, which we already know.

I spoke to our Agent, whom we met up with whilst in Torre La Ha Da Da, he explained that after selling a vast amount of apartments, he will not sell any more until there is a TC built so there does seem to be a reluctance on behalf of some, who know that if and when the TC is built it will be a resort that we can be proud to be in.

We have been lucky, in that we have been able to meet mortgage payments, and are more than willing to hang in there.  I do feel slightly mislead, and carried away with the selling promise of a wide vareity of facilities.  We did get a good deal, as we bought at the beginning of the credit crunch, so all in all we weren't in as deep as those who were relying on holidaymakers to meet expenses.

I did manage to speak to one of the Directors at Costa Calida properties, who explained that there are a group of people in Liverpool, who have challenged Polaris World about their claims of the resort being finished within a certain timeframe.  I was wondering if anyone has any details on this.

I keep looking on the 'owners website' for an update, and can say that Margaret Daniels, is working hard to ensure that we, the owners are kept informed at all times of any imminent news that we can get hope from.  I have to say, that this is far more welcoming, than the negative news sometimes provided on the forum.

Hi, just back from 2 weeks HR and I can confirm the road F20 from between Sucina to Avileses has been widened, resurfaced and lined. The only bit still to be done is the Sucina bridge over the new motorway, but it is in place and on friday they were building the ramps up to the bridge, but still the diversion is in place. All other roads proceeding rapidly.

HR looking very good and green after its yellowing over the winter. Pools all open and crystal clear and warm. Poil maintenance company seem well on top of things with very regular chemical checks and skimming each week. Gardeners very active all the time and dead trees being replaced.

HRGR residents Golf competetion and quiz nights (fridays) very successful and well attended. Course is in top shape and so to is El Valle. Some may find the golf at El Valle a little less challenging than HR, but some great holes and views.

All the new restaurants in Sucina now open, chippy, Italian bistro next to F&L and the Indian ( although better indians available).

Used the internet cafe in Sucina to print my sons boarding pass on Ryan Air. Only 80 cents including the printer. Very friendly.

Woodhouse shed, no change and no change to town centre but getting close. Will most likely be a new purpose built build.

Natural Gas and Electricity conversions no problem and PW TV box only cost 209 Euros with installation.

Call centre now moved to La Torre, but Resortalia still on site and very helpful. Now the rush of moans and complaints has abated somewhat they are becoming more proactive and helpful working with the comittees and presidents for improvements.

Cant wait to get back in August.

Graham & Gill

Hi Graham & Gill,

can you elaborate on your comment "............. no change to town centre but getting close. Will most likely be a new purpose built build" ?

Paul,

This comment was based on conversations and rumours with other owners etc. Personally I would like the Hacienda to be refurbished and developed as the centre as reported on the Resortalia site. Who knows?  but something is getting close to approval, you can feel it in the 36 degrees air!!

regards

Graham
