You may know now that PW will start charging E11.50/month tf you wish to continue receiving external incoming calls from outside the PW community. There has been much chatter on PWHR forum about this. I agree that this is a rip off for the follwoing reason.

Our resort in telecoms infrastructure terms is similar to a large hotel or business etc. with 2000 extensions (apartments) that connect internally to a private exchange or swtich. In PW's case this is most likely now to be a Cisco Call manager IP Switch. This allows any to any connectivity internally between any extension on the internal network using the last 4 digits of the number. My understanding is that we pay for this  onsite infrastructure, maintenance etc through our community fees.

Now to make or receive calls from outside PW, the internal switch must be connected to an external providers network eg Telifonica etc just like BT or Cable and Wireless in the UK. These are called trunks and their is normally a line rental for each trunk that is required.

If every apartment wished to make or receive an external call simultaneously then obviously 2000 trunks would be required attracting 2000 trunk line rentals from the external provider. This however is never the case, and the reality is that for the majority of businesses with 2000 extensions no more than 200 will be talking externally at the same time. In HRGR's case probably no more than 50 judging by the occupancy rates.

So for everyone who wants to receive incoming calls PW now want s to charge a 11.50 Euros/mth presumably for a trunk line rental to the external provider and are using a 1:1 ratio. In my experience a 10:1 ratio, extensions to trunks is good for a large bank etc. HRGR in reality is more likely to be 20:1 i.e. 1 trunk line rental for every 20 apartments for full occupancy, so 50 cents/month is more likely a correct figure.

Charging 11.50 Euros/mth is a rip off and a scam. Ask yourself how many hotels have you stayed in that charge you to receive a call from outside. - NONE.

If you have any questions then post on here, dont call me, I wont be taking external calls !!!!!!!! to busy playing golf and by the pool.

regards,

Graham

Paul,

This comment was based on conversations and rumours with other owners etc. Personally I would like the Hacienda to be refurbished and developed as the centre as reported on the Resortalia site. Who knows?  but something is getting close to approval, you can feel it in the 36 degrees air!!

regards

Graham

Hi, just back from 2 weeks HR and I can confirm the road F20 from between Sucina to Avileses has been widened, resurfaced and lined. The only bit still to be done is the Sucina bridge over the new motorway, but it is in place and on friday they were building the ramps up to the bridge, but still the diversion is in place. All other roads proceeding rapidly.

HR looking very good and green after its yellowing over the winter. Pools all open and crystal clear and warm. Poil maintenance company seem well on top of things with very regular chemical checks and skimming each week. Gardeners very active all the time and dead trees being replaced.

HRGR residents Golf competetion and quiz nights (fridays) very successful and well attended. Course is in top shape and so to is El Valle. Some may find the golf at El Valle a little less challenging than HR, but some great holes and views.

All the new restaurants in Sucina now open, chippy, Italian bistro next to F&L and the Indian ( although better indians available).

Used the internet cafe in Sucina to print my sons boarding pass on Ryan Air. Only 80 cents including the printer. Very friendly.

Woodhouse shed, no change and no change to town centre but getting close. Will most likely be a new purpose built build.

Natural Gas and Electricity conversions no problem and PW TV box only cost 209 Euros with installation.

Call centre now moved to La Torre, but Resortalia still on site and very helpful. Now the rush of moans and complaints has abated somewhat they are becoming more proactive and helpful working with the comittees and presidents for improvements.

Cant wait to get back in August.

10 Mar 2009 12:00 AM:

Just back from 5 wonderful days at HR so here a few updates for anyone interested.

3 very stormy days with constant gale force winds, rain, hailstones and disappearing patio furniture. Last 2 days were much better, wind eased and lovely sunshine 21-24 degrees, managed to get the BBQ out on Saturday afternoon.

No evidence of the promised mass planting on the course however word on the Calle  is 13000 shrubs have been ordered and planting to start end of March ( I have left out the year!!!). Not much irrigation going on  and course is looking a little pale. Rough and bare areas, new grass starting to come through in places but masses and masses and masses of weeds.making it look tatty. Frog lake was quiet but that will change with the mating season but a boat has appeared and safely moored.

Phase 6 pool was drained for maintenance, apparently a new company has taken over the pools and the old company left a few gremlins. Gardens around phase 6 very dry, again no irrigation and path lights not working, but pool lights blazing away every day from 4pm till midnight. even though no water in the pool.

Roads around resort attrocious (see Sucina restaurant fish and chip shop thread) but work on new N301 motorway progressing very well. No progress with the new road adjacant to HR and Paraleja to join F20.

Due to weather we spent some time at La Torre and El Valle. The town centre at la torre is very impressive and the restaurants and bars busy. This is how it should be. Drove back from Murpheys pub in La torre 80-90 punters. HR shed zero punters but that was probably due to the winds making it very uninviting. El Valle club house impressive and definitely worth visiting and not far away thru the back roads.

Another great visit and thoroughly enjoyable. HR is still extremely quiet though, in our  block only our apartment occupied again during this time. This equates to 4.6million Euros of peoples investment lying idle. (thats just one block)

It must be said though that we at HR are being massively short changed by PW with the lack of facilities/town centre compared to the other resorts. It is only the rapid completion of these facilities that will build up the occupancy rate and change the 'G' in HRGR from 'Ghost ' back to 'Golf.'

Sorry this is not my usual positiveness, we still had a great relaxing time but dissapointed with lack of visible progress since Christmas.
