Is anyone else renewing their house insurance in the near future,  or has just done it?

We completed last November, and took out the Zurich buildings and contents insurance - which was the easiest option at the time.  What I didn't realise,  and what Toni from PW insurance has confirmed to me today, is that this policy does not cover Accidental Damage.  Anyone else out there didn't realise this too?

I'm in the process of getting alternative quotes that do include Accidental Damage,  but I wonder if there are any of you out there who could recommend a good company or contact for this please?  I have one from Hiscox that could be OK,  but  that was just from an internet search, and personal recommendations are always better.

As far as I'm concerned, Accidental Damage is essential - particularly if you're renting out.

Anyway - all comments gratefully received

Maggie

Maggie,  Try intasure. Mine is up for renewal next month. it includes One million building cover as standard now. Also covered for accidental damage by tenants. make sure it is covered for tenants if you are renting out. Renewal is around £250. Good value i feel.  Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot,  I'll certainly try them.  It's a bit of a minefield. M

Just for anyone's interest,  Intasure proved the best company - around £180 for excellent cover including Accidental Damage, and it covers rentals too.  Very helpful, based in UK, payable in installments if you wish, I couldn't fault them.
