Urbaser - Water Charges

Hi

Just recieved my first water bill ?

bill is bi-monthly and standing charges are 4.25€ / month to Urbaser and 5.17€ / month to Alhama Town Hall (Add 7% IVA to both)

Charges are by the cubic meter at 64 cents per cubic meter plus 7%

Any one know why we pay two standing charges?

............ whenever money is being paid by a Brit there are 2 or 3 of em round a table with their palms out and a jar of grease in the middle !!

We have had our first water payment taken out of our account for €20.85. Take away the standing charges you mention would leave about €10 in actual charges.

Using the 64 cents per cubic metre would mean we have used around 15 cubic metres of water. When we were over about 10 days ago the metre was only on 2.1. Are you sure about the charge?

Either we are getting ripped off or Polaris have been topping up the pool from our upstairs tap. We are over on the 19th so will have another look then.

we have also had exactly 20.85 debited in the last 2 days. We've not been out there since Dec 6th, and as you know, we turn our water off at the mains when we leave.  We don't know exactly when the water meter started 'ticking' as it were. Maybe the 20.85 is all standing charge and no water use ?

It would also be handy if we could see the water meter dial. We can read our leccy meter through the clear window, but we can't see the water meter as the door below is solid and padlocked.

My total bill for my other apartment (No water used) was 20.17€ this was 2 months standing charges so you could not have used that much water if your bill was 20.85€ the bill is two monthly.

Prices i quote are direct from the bills

As a resident of a 3 bed apartment i am using about 5€ month

I often see workmen hosing down patios paths etc from apartment taps, so would advise anyone to isolate water when they leave also switch off electric as it is also common for workers to plug in to outside sockets

Hi everyone

Our water bill was for 30.94euros and we used it for two weeks when we were last out at xmas. We made sure we turned off supply before we left. So not sure why ours is higer and how much is standing charge.

I.assumed.that.these.were.connection.charges...I.have.not.been.out.since.August.2008.

Anyone.any.ideas?..Am.I.paying.for.all.of.Jardin.4?

I think you will find that all of us who have been connected to the Leccy and water have had the same amounts taken out of our bank, sorry the payment is just for your apartment so you can't share it out with anyone else !!!

It is not uncommon for water bills to also include the Rubbish Collection fees(Basura).

This could account for one standing charge to the water company & one to the town hall.

How do you isolate your tap upstairs?

We learnt about the electric the hard way.  When we left the apartment in November we had used 74 units of electricity which had doubled by the time we returned in January. 

The workmen who were repairing the damp for us had an extension cable hanging over the top of the solarium for their equipment and radio. On our visit we also saw extension cables stretching over a couple of apartments.

 It didn't really bother us that the builders were using our electricity to do repairs on our apartment but I wouldn't be too happy if it was getting used to do repairs on our neighbouring apartments. 

Turn off your internal 'Mains Cock' which is located on the back wall in the water heater cupboard.

I would imagine that the two charges for "water" relate one to water and one to wastewater.  Not uncommon in england for these to be via two different companies but collected on one bill (I work for a water company!)
