Hiya All

Can anyone advise where I can get a suitable shower screen with fitting for the 2 bedroom apartments on Jardines?

I have been sent details for 3 different screens by DFS (San Javier) with the most expensive being ~280 euros

Thanks
Graham

We got ours from Brico House on Camposol. Can't  remember the price, but to be honest they were the only ones to have the design we wanted (sea  shells with a chrome  fitting.  They don't deliver themselves, they phone someone up and he delivers for 25 Euros.  We bought a few big items so it made sense for us.  Other than that, hire a bigger car !

HI Graham
ours was 212 euros including fitting, from Ilucom, thought it a bit expensive myself but easy to arrange over internet.

Bought our shower screen  (inc towel rail) for £45 from Argos - bringing it over and then need handyman to fit it (or willing friend!)

Fridge/freezer  (in silver) to fit from Argos is £180 but can't fit it in removal van!

We got ours from Brico for 89 euros and another 5 euros for the silicone and gun, the hardest part of fitting was removing the the frame from the door then tring to get the door back into the frame once secured to the wall. If fitting yourself use plenty of silicone around the frame before fitting the door on.

Paul.

Is Camposol close to Condado? As we haven't stayed there yet we haven't really had a scout around the area. But we also want a shower screen.

Hi Jan &Mike

Camposol is only around 10 mins by car from Condado.Really easy  to get there.Head for Sector B when you come off motorway. There you have Consum supermarket and next door is Brico House,DIY store which is really good for price and you will get shower screen there.(Around 55 euros) It sells loads of other things, including bins rugs, outside storage items as well as outdoor tables and chairs.Round the corner there is plenty places to eat and being Scottish drinks are VERY cheap(less than half the price of bar in Condado)Don't be deceived by look of some of them from the outside.I didn't like Camposol at all first time I was out but bar staff are all really friendly and there are lovely restaurants at the back or above some of the bars which you don't see from the outside.

In Sector A there is an excellent Hardware store.Again they have everything including outdoor furniture and they also have numbers for joiners etc if you need work done. One boy in there speaks English and is very helpful.

Hope this helps

Lyn

Hi Lyn

I am also interested about Camposol as it's shops have been mentioned a few times on this forum, and the price for the shower screen sounds a good bargain.

Sorry to sound thick but which motorway are you talking about and which direction?   I have looked on google maps and for the life of me I cannot find Camposol any maps or directions would be appreciated.  Ta

When you leave Condado, at the roundabout head towards Mazarron. Im sure its actually the RM23 when you leave the Condado Roundabout which then merges onto the RM 3 without warning. Its easy to find however you have to be a litlle careful on the return to Condado as the condado off road can be easily missed and you go past it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

I can't wait for a map that actually shows all the new roads!

Again as previous responses

We purchased a screen from Camposol and fitted ourselves.
The one issue is the door clashed with the the tap handle on the Bidet.
to overcome this we fitted one of the door stops to the bath to restrict the opening Used adhesive called mitre mate.
Removing the door from the frame was tricky.

cost was 89 Euros just shows how much we get ripped off as it took 15 minutes to fit and seal.

Fitting the shower screen is there a safe way to drill into the tile without cracking it?

Hi Scapa

Should have told you motorway concerned is RM23.When you leave Condado, take sign for Mazarron.Turn off for Camposol is about 10 mins drive from roundabout. As someone else said you just have to be careful coming back at point where road changes from 4 lanes into 2.Stay in nearside line and you will be fine. You will see sign for Condado coming up in no time.

Hi Barry,

I used masking tape over the hole and used a tile drill bit which took a while to drill out

Do you need special plugs if it is double thickness plasterboard underneath?

You can buy a drill bit, especially for ceramic tiles (I picked one up in Brico), and also, as Don/Kerry mention, don't use a hammer drill.  You should use plasterboard rawplugs, as walls are hollow and also ordinary ones can open out on the tile surface and crack them.

Ted.

Use normal mason master
turn the hammer off
position the drill bit on to the mark you are drilling and turn the chuck by hand serveral turns . This will form a mark on the tile so you dont slip when you press the trigger.
use ordinary plastic plugs The plugs supplied are a bit large so i used brown ones.
on the back of the track that screws to the wall use some of the silicone adhesive to form a seal.
When you place the screen back into the track fixed to the wall there are two small screws that screw throuth the outer track to the inner track you will need a mate to put some preasure at the opposite side of the track as you dril the pilot hole.
Finaly seal the inside only of the track with a neat silicone joint.

The instructions are in Spanish and the pictures don't make much sense but it is very easy to fit.
