Can anyone give us the definitive on the outside lights?

Should we buy Polaris or Polaris style lights for the outside of the apartment. If so has anyone got better prices than from Homestyle? Judging by the response from customer services when I asked about odd additions to pergola's and SKY dishes Polaris seem to be leaving decisions to community committees but as I have no strict preference to the style of our outside lights other than I can read by them and we'd rather like security lights, we'd like to know what other people have decided.

I ask only because our snagger told us we would have to purchase Polaris style lights because uniformity will be the eventual focus , as said the Polaris rep who accompanied us all to the snagging.  Advice welcomed.

Hi Jan & Mike,

Sounds like your snagger was more informative than ours!! Ours didnt say anything to us about lights other than we would have to get them (wow and she wasnt even blonde!! )  The guy in homestyle said that they would cose about €300 for all the lights, have you been given any quotes?

Tam

Hi Jan & Mike - As far as we are concerned, we are going to be a bit stubborn about the lights issue - The only information we have received is that PW are no longer supplying the lights - Can't see how they can protest at the lights that people are choosing - When we get round to having a community committee some of us, and especially the Jardineers will have had their lights for months, they are not going to sit around with bare wires hanging out the walls waiting to be told what they can have - I'm sure that the majority of people will choose tasteful lights, they, as much as PW want their properties to look good - We would have liked the terracotta lights and I have seen on another forum, someone that can supply similar, but too late for us - We have already ordered ours and they are costing 34euros each plus fitting - They are, we think, in keeping with a Spanish style, but at the end of the day, it all boils down to personal taste

Dont know about any one else but if PW want uniformity on outside lights then they can supply them!

When we were over couple of weeks ago all the apartments that had lights outside all had different ones, cant see anyone being told to take them down

We were going to fit the terracotta lights but after seeing the old fashioned ones on other apartments and realising they were less than 10 euros each we went for them. A doddle to fit yourself aswell, no harder than wiring a plug. I can't see pw asking for uniformity as too many people will have to change lights now.

Having been on site a couple of weeks ago and witnessed- A  Pergola converted almost into a garden shed, numerous washing lines on roof terraces and sat dishes openly visible, I would suggest that should PW decide to take the high ground on things there are more important issues than the outside lights people have put up.

I am quite happy to conform to the terracotta PW style outside lights, as they do look really good, but they will have to supply and fit them now i've bought my own.

Hi Phil. What are your outside lights like? Iooked on the ilucom website but most of their lights are expensive and I don't think it's including delivery either! However they seem to be the only ones who can supply AND fit and have a website so I can order from Uk. Tan

I bought and fit mine myself, its a very easy job but you will need some steps and a drill

Ours are the carriage lamp type, in white, they cost 12 Euro each from a store in Puerto de Mazarron.

All of the lights we have bought  in Spain have push-fit wiring connectors so, other than tools to attach the lights to the wall /ceiling, its a real easy job.

Has anyone added additional recessed spots or is everyone just using the positions we are given?

If so does just the one spot on each fixing give enough light? (eg. just 2 single spots in the bedrooms)

Dan

Hi Dan,

We have chosen to only put one light up in each bedroom, we found that with bedside lights, which are normally used, there is more than enough light.

Hi Dan,

We have used standard light fittings which have a single bulb. (60W equiv)

It is all personal preference but we found that for how often this light would be used it gave plenty of light.

Hiya,

Just got back last night and would like to advise that the Penthouses outdoor lighting in the communal stairwells and passageways are all installed and working in block 10.  You will only have to shell out for two lights on your solarium as PW have also installed lights outside our front doors for us.  Personally I think there are too many lights in the communal stairwells (think it may look like Blackpool illuminations) but time will tell and  we are getting them for free, well sort off.
