I have been given a date for completion on 21st October at first it was provisional and now they have told me it is booked, I have yet to receive any completion paper work or anything in writing and wondered should I book my flights yet?

thanks in advance

Dan

I was in the same boat - and I rang PW to ask them should I really be booking flights without the confirmation. They said yes and I did...  the emaIl with all of the info turned up about 3 or 4 weeks before our actual completion date.

If I went thro' it again, I def recommend asking the question (and getting the answer) via email - at least then you'd have something in writing if the dates got shifted...

I'd also recomend starting to hassle them about 1 month beforehand re the habitiation cert..   tell them you're not going to complete without it (even if you).. Might give them an incentive to put yours on a priority list. It seemed to work for me.

Cheers

Hi there,

I was out last week and again the habitation certificate was not ready on my apartment - J0879. However, luckily this suited my situation as I didn't have the finances in place. (I now have a mortgage approval from CAM Bank, but I'm still not sure whether I should go ahead with a Euro mortgage or borrow from home - any advice welcome!!!). The same notary appointment was kept, where I signed the power of attorney with my solicitor. They can now complete on my behalf at a future date when everything is ready. Polaris pay the power of attorney costs as they did not have the habitation certificate ready!!

Even though I didn't complete, I still found the week very worthwhile, as I feel I got a lot done. I started the snagging process, got to know the area & spent time at Condado (a massive site already). I also visited many furniture stores (eventually opting for a package with Murcia Furniture). I also opened an account with CAM Bank at Puerto de Mazarron (which is a real gem of a town). Importantly, I also picked up my NIE no., which is indeed a strange process. An old man hands you a bit of paper in an empty room!

I stayed at La Cumbre Hotel in Puerto de Mazarron during my visit.  I intend to go back out in 6 weeks to finalise everything, hopefully I'll have the finances in place by then, heres hoping.

Additionally, I have employed the services of a snagging company (snagit). On Saturday 9 August, during a final visit to the apartment I saw water on the floor through the patio window. After eventually gaining entry with the Spanish builders (office staff away at weekend), we identified that the water had originated from the apartment above, because a tap had been left open. I believe the water has only recently been turned on at Jardin 8 so the open tap was not known about. There was water damage to the cupboard in the 2nd bedroom and to the units in the kitchen. At the end of the day Polaris need to sort this before I'll hand over any money so I didn't get too upset. You live and learn. Anyway, after all that if you get the chance to go out it won't be wasted!!

Good Luck

Hi Steven,

Sorry to hear about the hassle in your apartment all because someone was so stupid and not switched off the taps from upstairs!!!  We completed beginning of July and went over for 2 weeks.  We did the same as you and spent most of the time getting familiarised with the area.   At the time we had no builders supply of water only electrics on and off.  We tried turning the water on after spending a bit of time trying to suss out how to do it with there being more than one water valve to turn on. It all seemed a bit fiddly and we discovered while doing so how much we loved(not!!) the way they have finish off the tiles around the valves.  Now we know why they have placed the metal covers on;  to hide it all, top class workmanship!    Anyway we made sure as much as we could that all the taps where off just incase there was a sudden gush of builders supply water coming in.  We did ask Esther at aftersales if and when the main utilities arrive to connect will someone actually go into the flat and double check everything is connected and safely turned off before leaving and she seemed a little vague and none committal.  We will just hope it all goes through smoothly.  We are over last week in October so hopefully we will at least have the builders supply on if the main companies have not connected yet, fingers crossed.  Bye the way I am surprised , as you have your own we bit of paradise already in Scotland; why do you need Spain?  My dad and sister are in Dalry, not far; we are from Greenock just up the road from you but at the mo living in Belgium, it is just like Greenock; rains all the time!  Hope to meet you sometime.

George and Pauline,

Jardin 13 1436,

Hi there,

You're right, Largs can be really nice in the summer. But the winter, my god! Most people would leave if they could.

Today there has been flooding in many parts of Renfrewshire. Johnstone town centre is under several feet of water. Need I say more! Spain here I come!! Going back out for two weeks at the end of Sept. I won't be staying at the apartment but at least I can check it's ready to receive furniture.

Maybe swap some stories at the bar.

Cheers from a rather soggy Largs!!
