Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a car hire company from Murcia Airport.
My husband has has never driven in Spain before so we need to hire a car for shopping for the apartment.
So I said it would be better to hire an automatic so he can concentrate on the road rather than fiddle with the gears.
I have googled a bit but just wondered who does everyone else use?

Hi Ruthless,

I've used Carjet for ages without any problems.  They are a broker and find you the best rate but it could be with any hire company.  Go to www.carjet.co.uk and you should get what you want.  I've always found them to be the cheapest.

If you have a look through some other threads you can find a few more companies.  Good luck

Tim

We have just come back from Spain and flew into Murcia. We used hirecarsinspain agent and the company was econorent. They did a full for full, we got the car we requested (picasso), for 9 days cost us 205 euros which i thought was pretty good for a good size car. Had no problems

Hi Ruth,
We've used valuecarrentals and they also search for different prices, last time they found us a good price with goldcar rentals who have their own office in the airport, some don't and pick you up in a mini bus and then take you to San Javier to your car. I prefer to go from the airport, it usually tells you if the company have a office in the airport in their write up.

Hi,

We've used Carjet.com a couple of times and have already booked with them for our trips in October and December.  Remember Ruth you may need a car with a reasonable boot size to get all those neccessary items in like ironing board etc.
We have gone for Fiesta Fusion 5 door with the hope of getting upgraded to a Focus,  this happened to us the last time.

Good luck
Alison

I too have always used 'Carjet', their price is an all in price inclusive of all insurance and they always come out the cheapest.  If you book with them you have the choice of pre-paying or paying on arrival.  As Chris says all the companies are located at the airport except for Auriga Crown which is a 5 minute minibus journey.  There are some things to remember - Wheels and Tyres are not covered by any of the insurances, all the companies are the same, however you can insure for a flat fee of €20.
Other things to bear in mind:-
1.  The underside of the car is not insured.
2.  Any window breakage where there has been a theft of items left in your car is not insured, be careful not to leave anything on display.
3.  Check the car for any body damage, presence of a spare wheel, warning triangle and high vis jackets.  If you find any problems tell the reps and they will mark it on your rental agreement.
4.  When driving in Spain always carry your licence and rental agreement with you, in case the police want to see it.

Having said all this, I've rented on numorous occasions with different companies booked by Carjet and found all the Spanish hire companies very good and they will always sort any problems.

Auriga Crown is now also situated on site at Murcia airport and we usually book them through www.doyouspain.com

We have always had a good price with them and if you are hiring for less than 4 days you can do full/full fuel return.

I've been across in Spain five times now in the past year and, in July, I used Record rent a car for the first AND LAST time.  What a nightmare.  The list of what went wrong is endless - suffice to say my plane landed at 8.45pm and I was still in the airport carhire area at quarter to eleven at night, tears streaming down my face in frustration with a 4 year old child in tow desperate for some sleep.  The rest of the customers were similarly distressed, angry and frustrated with them.  Auriga Crown desk was flying through their arrivals and have been excellent every time I have used them over the years.  I am going back in Sep and Auriga Crown has my booking.

Just back from a fortnight in Spain.  We used bravocarhire and were allocated to Solmar fro the best price.  I was really happy with the car supplied and the service received.

In July I used Carjet and collected the car in Gerona from Auriga Crown and returned it to Murcia airport.  It was so easy no problems. I will be using them again and would recommed them.

I've used carjet.com and doyouspain.com.  Last time went on travelsupermarket.com, which is good because just because one week it will give you a good deal for one the next week it will change to another, Record came up "trumps" and they were good too.  Good luck looking.

Try www.economycarhire.com have used them each time been out. usually SolMar cars but discounted against their normal rates. Saved 45 euro in July. Bear in mind that you pay for a full fuel tank when you pick up and return empty if over 3 days hire.

We always use Economy Car Hire. We like the openness and clarity of their website, plus the prices ! On the ground we then use Auriga Crown at the airport, as they have refunded the fuel when returning the car full. It does not say this in their terms and conditions, but they do it 'because you are  an Economy Car Hire customer'..
