A Spanish surgery with a great success
Thursday, June 17, 2010 @ 11:17 AM

Some days ago, an italian sir has been operated, in a Clinical of Torremolinos (Málaga), named "Santa Elena"; the method was the named "Cryosurgery", in one of his lungs --where he had a tumor--.The pacient is 72 years old and he could go back, to Italy, some hours after the operation.

This operation of Microsurgery consisted in isolate the tumor and lowering the temperature of its cells till - 92 degrees Celsius, in order to kill those cells.Among the Doctors, who have operated to this sir, is Pedro Torrecillas --who have operated another cases of tumor of Prostate and bones, with his team. And this operation has been the first one in Europe--.

The team of doctors applied local anesthesia.

In Spain, we have a saying that says: "No one is a prophet in his land"; but I think that, sometimes, this sentence has no right, because we know, for example, many very good doctors, like Pedro Torrecillas, Mariano Barbacid (a great oncologist, who, in 1982, got to isolate a gene of tumor, not discovered before.), Pedro Cavadas (who, recently, got to make a face transplant --the first one in Spain--)  and another doctors, who deciden to stay in Spain, in order to help spanish people and, of course, to another foreigner people.

From here, I want to make a tribute to all these professionals, who give their lives for helping many people.

Best regards,

Luis
