Monarch London Gatwick to Murcia

From the Monarch website it would appear that Monarch have no flights scheduled from Nov 09 until March 2010 from Gatwick to Murcia which only leaves Easyjet flying this route over the winter.

Anyone seen any news on this, once again they can't be bothered to inform customers who have used this route on many occassions.

Nope...

They will probably do what they did with their Gatwick -Granada service...between now and the last Summer Season flight they will  jack up the prices, change the departure time from Gatwick to a very early morning and then pull the service completely blaming the punters for falling seat sales...and then advise customers about two weeks before the last flight...

 Foxbat, Monarch have got seats up for sale from 28/03/10 onwards. They don't seem to be early morning departures amd the prices seem OK. However, not sure how much they charged before.

Fingers crossed then for all who use Murcia and Monarch!

Lets just hope they don't change their minds.

I just get riled up at the total lack of thought that the lo-co's use when considering their customers.

They operate at such low margins that just one seat not sold or one airport management company not prepared to kow- tow to their demands that they just pull services...

No one can do early morming flights into Murcia, other than weekends as the Spanish Air Force still have priority until around 3.00pm despite new runway being built to share its use. This has still not been granted a licence to operate.

Monarch have been flying Gatwick to Murcia route for some time and have always been fairly busy but with competitive prices often cheaper than EasyJet, I m flying Murcia to Gatwick in September for £37inc.

It will be disappointing for those with holiday homes in the region that this choice is not available again until next March especially as they don't seem to have informed customers who have used the service for some time.

It may also mean that Easyjet will be free to increase their winter prices on this route having no competition

Unfortunately that is the mantra of low cost, if you want regular services then airlines will demand summer prices have to subsidize less profitable winter flights as BA do on many routes.

Competition was always a good thing to keep prices sensible.

I heard Monarch are cutting their Luton - Alicante route this winter so this could be part of the overall cuts.
