Don't know what happened with my previous two posts - sorry about that - think I clicked on too many things at once!

Thanks for the advice Sping & Jeans Sis - hopefully won't be writing too many cheques out but good to know we can actually write them in English if needs be. Usually use a debit card but find it a pain carrying round my passport all the time, so good tip Jeans Sis re copying & laminating my passport - will give that one a go.

Thank You :)

Hi everyone

Sorry one more question re Halifax ES - I'm presuming that I can change the PINs on our cards (is this right?) & if so can I do it in the UK Halifax machines? Anybody know?

Thank you.

Thanks Jean Sis - I love all these pictures you come up with :)

We changed our PINs on our cards with Cajamurcia (well to be more correct the assistant came outside with us & did most of it for us!) so am presuming it is possible with the Halifax. Just thought it would be easier & more secure to do it now in the UK rather than having everything hanging around until the next time we go to Spain.

Cheers

JeanSis, I posted this on an earlier post or inserting images but maybe your didn't see it:

What you do is, click the "Insert image" icon in the text editor where you post your message and enter the Photo Bucket image URL in the box that comes up.  That way you can insert images into the actual post.

Regarding the PIN number in theory it should be possible. The Spanish are as mindful of fraud as anyone else and would want you to be able to do it as quickly as possible if the need arose and I have certainly changed a UK PIN over here. A UK ATM will recognise your Halifax debit card and as long as the option to change PIN is on the machine it should be no sweat. You MIGHT have to use a Halifax UK hole in the wall to do it but if you can do it there I reckon you can do it anywhere

Rgds - blimey its 1.45 AM - time for bed me - er indoors went about three hours ago - she wants me to take up golf then she wouldnt see me at weekends either!!

Can anyone give me some advice on who to use to make regular monthly payments sent from the uk over to spain.

We are looking to send around £400 p/month,to cover mortgage ,utilities etc

I spent considerable time talking to HIFX quoted 1.41, Interchangefx 1.445, travelex 1.475 with a £10 monthly transfer fee.

Out of curiosity M&S hol money is listed at 1.466!!!!

With the pound to euro at a 28 month high ,i expected a better rate from the three companies mentioned above

Any help would be grateful

 Lynda

Thanks Jeans Sis - really appreciate your help. Hadn't got into town to try the UK Halifax servicetill, so that saves me a trip. Do you know - when I go to change my PIN in Halifax ES do the instructions come up in English or should I just accost an assistant first to help me out? Don't want to get my card chewed up by the machine!

Lyndy,

Was the rate of 1.41 from HiFX offered today when the business rate is at 1.52???

That seems very low... reason I'm asking is I'm going to be looking to do same as you next January.

Was this amount for a 6 month fixed deal or how long?? Seemingly, different rates depending on what period of time the rates fixed for.

If it's going to be so low, probably better to do a halifax to halifax, but Jeansis would be able to tell you more about that than me.

Sharon
