I presume that Spain has a transfusion service similar to the UK but I can't find anything on the net. I'd like to continue as a blood donor and if anyone can tell me how, I'd appreciate it.
Irene, I typed in' blood donors costa blanca' & got this Euro Weekly News feature as the 1st line. It says if you are interested in being a donor in any community contact your local health centre for donation days, which is what I'd have done.

I also found an article subsequent to my post that states that the Spanish authorities won't take blood from any English people unless they have been out of the UK for 2 years - all to do with CJD.
I'll give it a go though because it's something I'm passionate about.
I would've just thought they'd screen for that though. Much more important to offer to give blood, isn't it ?
We spent ages backwards and forwards to saluds and even the private hospitals and we spoke direct to the spanish blood doner service. If you have been reident in the Uk for a certain period ( can't remember how long but think it was around 10 years ) you CANNOT give blood in Spain ever.
The directive is from the Spanish government.
