Hiya everyone,
just got an e.mail from our Spanish solicitors informing us that we have got to pay the above, they are asking us to get the last 'suma receipt for 2007' which we arent at all sure what this is, we havent had any kind of receipt's at all since buying the property in 2006, and they are asking for fiscal information from our Spanish bank, again we arent sure what this is, or what we can do to get this information, we do have a mortgage on the property, we dont go out to Spain until Christmas time.  any help would be really appreciated.
Many thanks
Elaine

A couple of questions first.

You say you bought in 2006 what date and was this a new build?

Do you pay your Solicitor a yearly charge to act as your fiscal representative?  This is normally paid in January.

What bills are you currently paying Electric, Water direct to the company?

These answers will help us to explain to you what is going on.

Thankyou
we signed for the property in October 2006, not too sure of the exact date, and it was a new build.  We dont pay our solicitor a yearly charge although we would if that is the thing to do, they have just asked us if we want them to act for us with regards to this, and we do pay our water and electricity direct to the companies from our bank account in spain, I hope this will give you something to go on.
thank you

I did a google search and can't find an "uleased urban property tax for non fiscal residents" perhaps they are talking about Renta Tax.

Have a look at this thread as IBI (yearly council tax produced by SUMA) payable each September and Wealth/Renta tax has been explained here in detail.  Don't really want to go throught it all again.

I'd pay your solicitor to pay these taxes for you, they can chase up all the figures needed to pay each tax.  You will need to pay full Wealth Tax for 2006 and part Renta plus both taxes for 2007.   As you bought in October 2006 you will be liable for IBI for 2007 onwards.
