I'm looking for a cheap but not too ugly way of securing a pool 8mx4m from kids, in my sister in laws chalet. She doesn't want to use fencing as it spoils the view, unless there is no other way,  any suggestions would be appreciated.....

A deep moat around it, and a drawbridge?

you can get a pool alarm which wont stop them going in the pool but will set off and alarm if they fall in. They work on the same priciple as sonar. Other than that a physical barrier such as a fence is about the only way to go. Apart of course from bribes or a playstation

 Thanks for that Tamara!:)

I'm sure that will keep the "livestock" out of the pool! :)

Chris thanks for the suggestion but I think an alarm is great combined with other measures. I thought there might be something out there that I hadn't thought of.... looks like it will have to be a fence!

If the pool is on a patio or has a hard surface around it, you could put in a removable fence. Something with baseplates fixed in place with removable fence sections so it's not a permanent fixture. Or even square holes cut into the tiles and fence sections dropped in. When it's taken out you can get rubber "plugs" to cover the holes
