CGT for non-residents

As HR is a golf resort, can't believe no-one's started an HR golfing thread on here before.  Oh well...........

It's been reported elsewhere that the opening of the golf course has been confirmed for 16th June.

Can anyone else confirm this and also is it for 9 or 18 holes?

It doesn't seem to matter if you open a new thread...no-one seems to post like topics together anyway....folks just start another identical one so there is very little grouping of information!!!

Anyway...yes it is 'confirmed' that 16th is the opening date, but the practice area is supposedly open this month (May)...but is anything ever certain with PW....but it cant be delayed much further.

It is going to be a really,really difficult course..... probably the toughest of the lot on the PW circuit...not for the feint-hearted...or the high handicapper.  Only the better players will get pleasure from playing this course....the rest will just wish they had gone somewhere else!!

Still waiting for the 9 or 18 hole question though.  Anyone have any info please?  Perhaps when Lennie's back, we'll get the answer.

wrt the course.  I agree it will be a true test.  I am one of those high handicappers trying to reduce my handicap and I honestly think HR will help.  It will force me to play percentage golf .  I'm looking forward to it teaching me how to play!!

The practice range is not there for those long booming drives.  Its not long enough and I think drivers will be banned.  Its a practice area unlike any I've seen before and will make practice fun - or interesting!!

Played LT last time over and enjoyed it.  The course is more open than you think when viewed from the apartments.  Also it took just under three and a half hours which was good.

EV is another story.  Course is interesting but by the fifth, our two-ball got stuck behind a four-ball who had no intention of letting us through which took the shine off what should have been a pleasurable experience.  Next time I'll have to make sure I'm in a four-ball!!.

If you get the chance to play it, La Serena in Los Alcazares is really enjoyable.  Water on 16 of the 18 holes and the wind makes it a great test.  On a couple of holes, I was playing a wedge for 120m and 8 iron for 100m!!!

I was over last week and was told all 18 open in two weeks with the driving range open today. I agree about the practice facilities nothing more than an 8 or 9 iron by the look of it so our short game should be much improved.

I've also played Peralja twice and it's an enjoyable track albeit expensive if just visiting. However, I can thoroughly recommend the restaurant for an evening meal. The food was first class as was the wine. Well worth the 4km treck round the perimeter.

Golf course at Hacienda Riquelme scheduled for opening 14th June.

Looks like this is one date that hasn't slipped - again - thank goodness.

MMGR society played it the other day and very positive results were posted on another forum.

Looks like I'll have to bring plenty of balls with me though!

Yes it did open and it is a great course in excellent condition!
