Hi Fellow Haciendans (Hacenderos?!)

Can any of you recommend a turstworthy and reasonable locksmith as we haven't got round to changing our locks yet. We completed before Christmas but still haven't got everything ready yet. I think it's partly because we already live in Spain and have been busy getting our own house in order so that the appartment has been a little on the back burner. However, I'm pretty fed up with Polaris who still haven't managed to sort the boiler out so we still have no hot water, even though the gas company have blithely taken two payments already. The man came to commission the boiler, fiddled about, and then said it was faulty and a technician woulkd have to come from Roca. I understand that there have been quite a lot of boiler problems. Have any of you had trouble?

Hi Saltay,

We also had a problem and had to wait for the Roca engineer to call.  He came within 48 hours and diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes - the external flue was missing a part which was a PW fault.

He did a 'fix' to leave everything running (we have an externally mounted boiler) and we had to wait for 10 days for PW to re-fix the flue with the correct components.

Still, we had water and heating in the meantime.

As for a good locksmith, Have you considered swapping locks with a neighbour.  The locks are easy to change and contrary to popular belief, I am reliably informed that PW do not have skeleton keys to allow entry into all the apartments.

Don't do anything until you are sure you will not need PW to get into the apartment for any reason.  When you are satisfied that all has been done, go to the call centre and ask for the remaining key to your apartment that is held in the portacabin.  I got mine within 5 minutes.

Hope that helps.
