Just had the town centre pictures sent from our agents.  The reason for moving the old town centre is because Polaris are going to build another town centre where the golf suites and cortijos are.  Have no idea where this is but would suspect it will be towards El Mirador.

Hopefully won't be too far from those in Jardin 1, don't know when they will be built though.

Below is an extract from Polaris's email

It has been relocated because there will be another town centre just were the golf suites and the Cortijos are.

In the Naranjos area will be:

  • Naranjos de Alhama:
    • Swimming pools
    • Tennis courts
    • Paddle tennis courts
    • All in the same park area with paths and recreational area, and with a pavilion housing a café, gym and changing rooms.

 The new location is near the previous one and still the above facilities will be available.

I don't know how true it is but from another forum PW have emailed their Condado Masterplan as follows:-

1. Town centre for Jardines (Foro) moved to just South of Los Naranjos which will also act as Los Naranjos' town centre, El Algaro, which was me to be in the blank space just North of the Clubhouse;
2. Golf Suites added just South of Cortijos villas;
3. Further facilities added to the Sports area to the North-East of El Mirador;
4. Bear's Best courses redesigned;
5. Frontline Los Naranjos Penthouses on East side of Signature course added;
6. Walkway/Driveway between Los Naranjos & Jardines.

Polaris World this week released details on the services that will be available to residents of Naranjos, Jardines and La Isla del Condado.

The sports facilities which will be the first to appear in Jardines de Alhama are expected to be completed by June 2008. They will consist of paddle tennis courts, squash courts, tennis courts, a multisport court and service building with café and gym covering approximately 180 square metres.

In Naranjos de Alhama facilities will include swimming pools, tennis courts and paddle tennis courts all located in the same park area with paths, a recreational area and a small pavilion housing a café, gym and changing rooms.

The initial project for the shopping areas has been modified to be able to provide the greatest number of services to the residents. Both the Foro and Agora Town Centres have been relocated and joined together on the same plot measuring 12,000 squre metres next to the three resorts (Naranjos, Jardines and La Isla). This new Town Centre will keep the name Foro, and work has already begun. The characteristics and facilities available in this Town Centre will be released at a later date'.

The Jardines are not getting a swimming pool either within the sports facilities, which is a shame.

The new town looks quite small considering it is for double the amount of appartments.  Does anyone know what will be in this new town??

Still excited

Jackie

I've uploaded revised plan (photo section) of the Condado development which Polaris sent me today. It shows the new position of Faro.

I've also uploaded revised plan of Jardin 3. (pool has also moved)

Does anyone know the distances (or scale) of the main map ?

Have looked on all my paper versions to try and work out distance from jardin 1 to jardin 13, and then onto the new Foro, but can't find the info .......... need to work out normal walking time and post vino tinto walking time (might make the difference between accepting an invite to a party an extra jardin away !

Should set up a stall and park bench for a stop off point on the way back home. We're in Jardin 5 about midway, all welcome for a pitstop.

Never measured it myself but the site is supposed to be about 7Km around the perimeter if you can gauge a distance from there. About 1.5 Kms, 20 mins? rough guess between Jardin 1 & 13.

Mike

Was thinking of a taxi service............... might import a ''put put'' from Sri Lanka

Jardin 4 and 5 (for you) - my reasons for choosing my spot on jardin 4 were

1) 1 pool for average size jardin

2) Near the Foro but not next to it

3) Not overlooking the pool (noise), but not overlooked either

4) sun hitting the front terrace in the evening for the BBQ and sitting out, morning sun on the bedroom in the morning to get me up after the previosu night !

The move of the Foro is an annoyance to me, but actually might do me good as it will force me to walk before i can get to the fun, so maybe 1.5k between jardin 4 and the Foro, but 1k from jardin 4 to the other Foro (left and up the side of the golf course ??)............. about 15mins pre and 25 mins post vino tinto then......... i can live with that

Nobody is talking about 'golf' on here !

OHHHHHH Shampers your killing me lol, unlike men us women are quite used to multi-tasking :) and I am afraid I dont drink ................YET but I think it may not be too long before I take it up, I am sure we will all find a way round the walking bit, it will all be worth it anyway, I am ok I am on Jardin 13 which I have a sneaky feeling is right next door to where we will all be partaking in some night time socialising.

Making the most of my sober days

Carol

LOL indeed

Per Mike's comment, if your in J13 then you could set up a small cafe on your back terrace for those exhausted walking from J1, leaving out a generous supply of leaflets promoting your apartment management service and taxi train for those that the 'beer scooter' has broken down on ..............

Beginning to sound like a holiday camp rather than a 5* luxury resort, but then again with pools disappearing, Foro's disappearing and Bear's Best being changed to a par 54 'Heaton Park' pitch and putt perhaps that's the idea

<<<< off to buy 1 red and 1 blue coat just in case >>>>>

So am I............ I originate from near The Willows

Now practicising my 'Hi-d-Hi' , have only just noticed the resemblence between the Jardines and Butlins at Minehead from 1977 with school, i still bear the scars from the hand knitted compulsory bobble hats (to identify us in a crowd) that for some reason were in the colours of Wolverhampton Wanderers !

What have i bought ?????????????????

Nope seriously, as every year goes by we will see it improve, in 10 years time we will be delighted with what we've all done, and we will have made so many new friends.................. 'ho-d-ho'

Hey Shampers,

      Worked out we're about half way between you and the new foro. Our back terrace on garden 9 is on the road side. Might put a few bar stools on the pavement for those tired and thirsty people going home. lol. Going over for a look at the place in June so will get back to you on the distance from your place to the bars.

Put one of those big food/drink dispensers on your back terrace - the ones where after you've put your money in and placed your order, it gets right to the edge but then doesn't drop, so your forced to buy the one behind to knock it out............ they are actually designed to do that on every 4th drop - ingenious if you ask me

Anyway the walking will do me good, so i remain upbeat about it all

Apologies if this has already been posted - my brain is haggled after this weekend!  Anyway PW Customer Services have confirmed that the new town centre will be bigger than the original Foro and will have more facilities - it will include shops, bars, restaurants and sporting facilities etc.  Completion of the new town centre is planned for 2009 (sorry - no more specific than that).

For this summer there will be a supermarket and cafeteria on the site that was originally intended for the Foro.  I asked whether this is just temporary or whether it will remain there even when the new town centre has opened.  Customer Services said that if the supermarket and cafeteria are being used a lot by people who are a long walk from the new town centre, then it will probably stay there.  If it is not being used sufficiently, then it won't stay.  Seems sensible enough but hopefully it will get used quite a lot and will then become a permanent facility for all the people in Jardins 1 to 7 who are a fair walk from the new town centre.

I have also just had a telephone call about El Foro- so I must take back all my moaning about Polaris never responding.  Camilla from Polaris told me the same as Payton has been told. I asked if the temporary supermarket had any chance of being made permanent and was told that it will depend totally on how much it is used.

We're Jardines 8 but selected our apartment so we were reasonably close to the shops at El Foro. If you have anyone elderly  and not so good on their legs likely to use the apartment then they will want to be relatively near facilities.

Hi All.

I saw mentioned in this post that a bears best course is to be reduced to a par 54.  Is this true fact, a wind up, or a rumour?
