Hi Guys,

Just back from Condado and found out a few interesting things:

1) DISNEY: Only a rumour but I guess a big one. Spoke to someone in Mazzaron and was told that Disneyland Spain may be ear marked for the Alhama/Mazzaron area of Murcia, Spain.

2) TOWN CENTRES: A PW employee told me that the town centres for both Jardines & Los Naranjos may be combined in the one area in the space behind the 2nd Phase of Penthouses. I was told that they may be doing this as this position is situated between the Jardines & Los Naranjos apartments. I mentioned that this seems strange as the main Oasis town centre would then be very close. I was then told that the Oasis town centre is a public town centre outwith any resort and the Jardines/Los Naranjos centres are private. This leads me to my 3rd point.

3) PRIVATE or PUBLIC: I hadn't realised that parts of Condado de Alhama are public. Each resort i.e Jardines, Los Naranjos, El Mirador, La Isla etc, all have there own security entry points and surounding fences. The main dual carriage-ways running round Condado and through the centre of Condado including Oasis, Sports, Schools etc are all public roads. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet but I guess it means at least the Oasis town centre will have a wider variaty of shops and restaurants not owned by PW.

4)  PENTHOUSE SHOW HOME: We were told that a Los Naranjos Penthouse show home will be ready within a few weeks. Can't wait to see photos if anyone has a visit planned soon.

5) FRONT DOOR: This might be wrong but from recent pictures of the Penthouses has anyone else noticed that the front door looks WHITE?

6) LOS NARANJOS COMPLETION: Visited PW head office and spoke to Customer Services regards completion. I was told that Los Naranjos inc' Penthouses should be handed over before the end of this year!!

I got a few photos but nothing much different from those already posted. I did take a photo of the Ground Floor Jardines with external curtains and awning, which completely enclose the Ground Floor Patio creating a lovely private area. I'll download them on Monday.

Cheers, Iain

Hi Iain two years ago there was a rumour of disney land, makes you wonder whether the developers are spreading these rumours for their own financial gain. I think personally the Oasis Town centre needs to be open to the general public to be a viable propersition and it will encourage different outlets and not as you say completely run by PW. and their silly prices. Look forward to seeing the photographs.

Thanks for the update.

Little disappointed about the town centre as there are loads of properties going to be built at Condado, but having stayed at Le Torre a few times they always struggle to fill the restaurants and bars, we will just have to wait and see. The temporary bar, restaurant and supermarket are supposed to be getting put behind where phase 2 Naranjos are, ready for when the Jardines gets handed over.

The Oasis has always been open to the public, but the bars and restaurants will only be owned by Polaris not available for Joe Public to own. We had the details sent and you can get a 50 sq mt unit for 100,000€, then theres other units well over the 1,000,000€ price tag. There are supposed to be many well known spanish retailers already signed up/interested but the sales rep wouldn't say who at this stage. When we were out a few weeks ago they were on digging the lake area out for the Oasis with building works planned for June.

The disneyland rumour has been going on for at least 10 years now. If it happens it will be great for all those with rental properties but I feel it will just commercialise this part of Spain and is not what we really bought into.

The next few years will be interesting, bring them on.

Sunny days are almost here

Yes we also knew the Oasis was going to be a public shopping mall, the idea being to open the resort to the general public in a controlled way, but to be a tourist venue as much as any other shopping centre. I'm sure its in the pack we received from Polaris. Our PW rep told us that the idea for Condado was of a new town ( County of Alhama) especially when they build the two other golf courses and eventually build around them. The idea was also that residents and renting guests dont really have to leave the resort- everything is to hand- profitable for Polaris.  He made Oasis sound like an enormous retail project  with shops,  lakeside restaurants and bars and boating on the lake. I suppose that if they ever get around to building a hotel its another big attraction for those guests too and for people attending golf tournaments somewhere down the line. This week our agents have told us that a lot of  major commercial stores have shown an interest in the Oasis which is a positive thing because it means its more likely to go ahead without reform or delay due to the credit crunch. The combination of our private shopping areas may be a reaction to the down turn in available funds which may affect releasing any new areas on Condado for some time.

Just had an email off our agent today confirming that  the Town Centres of Jardines and Naranjos are going to be moved. Polaris have promised they would send her plans, which she will forward onto ourselves.

Hi Mike,

Did she mention if they have decided to combine the Town Centres into one at the back of Phase 2 Penthouses? Any chance you could let us know as soon as you have the plans so we can have a look.

Cheers

Iain

Must admit I'm pretty p***ed off about this! one of the reason we chose the location of our place was to be relatively close to the town centre.

It's got to be a financial reason nothing else, how long is going to take now to resubmit planning and create new working drawings etc! i dread to think

All part of buying off plan i'm afraid. The villas were originally were El Mirador is now, when we bought, these have since been moved down the left hand side.

Obviously an economics situation. We stayed a number of times on La Torre with about 2500 properties and they struggle to fill the restaurants and bars there. They aren't even open all the time as well. So only having circa 1600 properties in Jardines alone aren't going to fill the same amount of places.

Hopefully combining them will give it a more lively atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. The Oasis will also be excellent I think when up and running.

Hi Iain

Good photos. Did you see where we could park our cars? According to the plans they were at the back of the apartment block. But knowing Polaris things could change, they might even say that we have to pay extra for the keys and locks for our property!!!!
