If I recall correctly, both bathrooms have marble tiling on the walls  My concern is if this is the case and we put up the shower screens etc and we damage the walls then this could prove to be an expensive mistake.  Does anyone know how easy it is to drill into marble and whether Rodas bathroom extras (towel rack, toilet roll holder etc) include fitting.  My thinking is it might be best to get Roda to do it (although expensive, we may have some come back, especially if its done before completion, if they damage the tiles)

Sounds like a good idea to get Roda to do this part.  However, I do not think the package includes fitting because they could argue that they would not know exactly where you wanted the items positioned.

Are you sure the tiles are real marble?  There are some excellent porcelain copies and some ceramics are now called rectified marble.  This is a good question to Roda because if the bathrooms are real marble then the tiles can stain and be prone to minute cracks in the polish.  I will add this question to my list for Roda!  I work with the tile industry in design and know lots of tile fitters.  Providing the tradesperson knows what they are doing I do not think drilling into the tiles/marble will be a problem.

The shower screen though is another bone of contention.  I really think they should have finished off the showers properly.  If the unit gets a leak there is bound to be an arguement that the shower screen was not fitted properly.  If we can get Roda to fit these items (even if it is begrudgingly at extra cost) then I think this is a good idea and perhaps we should work on them to provide this service.

Hi there

No I'm not sure if there real marble, can I leave you to ask Roda that question, as you know more about it than me!  I'm waiting for David Sanchez to come back to me about the shower/bath screens fitting.  If they do include fitting I will probably get them to fit them, as like you said if theres any leak etc I don't want them to blame us!  Then I guess we could buy portable hand towels etc without the need of drilling.  I'll keep you informed.

Yes, the items do include fitting.  This is the email sent from David Sanchez at Roda.

"All the items include fitting. So, as soon as you send us the 50% of the
price of each item, we order the Department in charge to deliver and fit
them for you".

That is good news about the fitting being included and probably worth the extra cost.  It seems the bathroom tiles are real marble but I am just trying to find out what type.  Real marble is quite soft and relatively easy to drill into.  There is an issue with doing it properly though because it is possible to crack the tile.  So probably best to get Roda to do it or employ someone with the correct equipment and skills!  The other thing to remember is that marble can stain so do not be tempted to slosh your red wine or coffee about when taking a bath!  It is a nice feature though to have real marble and in theory no two bathrooms will look the same with different veins in the tiles and variations of colour.

There is a shop in Los Alcazares that fits bath and shower screens so I am told, and they have been recommended.  When I'm out there next I'll get a quote.

I guess the wine and coffee stains will apply to the flooring in the lounge/dining area, so extra care will need to be taken.
