The Beach Club is really lovely and is at the end of the La Manga Strip. I was out there at the weekend that it was closing (midSeptember) for the winter and it was a lovely day. We had a drink just sitting looking out at the Med and it was just so relaxing.

We also drove out with some friends a few weeks ago and the building is gutted as the extensive interior work is now being completed so looking at the previous comments is not going to be really very helpful to you as the building is going to be completely different. The only remaining feature is the roof shape, the new pool and the interior beautiful marble staircase.

The Beach Club promises to be exactly what was promised and will I am sure be on a par with everything else we expect from Da Vere. So don´t panic about reading previous postings as they are completely out of date!!

The Beach Club will reopen in the late spring for the coming season and I for one can´t wait to see it.

Sorry to be so short, no offence intended.

Its GR8 news to hear the Beach Club will reopen next year with the renovation complete.

The issue i still have a problem with is access from Roda. Do we know if a mini bus will take us down to Santiago De La Riba or do we have to drive down there and fight for a parking space. In the summer its almost impossible to park.

Can anybody remind me of the daily cost. ?, is it 10 euro return for the boat. ? and does this inc the mini bus.

Can confirm word for word IP's comments. We spoke with the waiter in the temporary clubhouse last week when in Roda who we first met when he worked in the Beach club in the summer.

Also heard from another source the occasional sighting of nude bathers on the beach, I never read about that in the Roda literature!

was there alot of work going on, and did they indicate when it might open?

We were over for 2 weeks returning last Friday.  We took a trip down to the Club a week last Sunday - it has been stripped back to the girders.  I asked Christina in the sales office what was happening and she assured me that it would reopen in time for June - seems to me that there is an awful lot of work to be done in the meantime.  I met some local people whilst we were there (Spanish) and they did not know that Roda owned it but said in their opinion it was the best property on La Manga - but really it was quite sad to see the state of it.

I did take loads of photos which I will upload when I get a moment.

Just seen the photos of the beach club, thanks Karl.  I had no idea they were going to do so much work on it, but can't wait to see the finished product and am sure it'll be well worth the wait.

We were also out and took photo of the progress!! at beach club. i was very shocked to see it striped back to nothing i cant even belieive it was ever open ( i know it was). it was a real mess and no sign of anything going on although it was the weekend.

In my opinion I can not see it being finnished by June. this was suppose to be finnished with phase II i am loosing faith with Roda do they think we are stupid. At the speed they seem to work we will be lucky if it's next year. The hotel is also way behind now talking 2010 not the 2008 we were told.

does anyone know were we stand with these delays. it needs us to all stick together and create a fuss.

sorry to seem so negative but even our pool outside the appartment was full of sand leaves and not working.

i agree it will be wonderful when finnished but when will this be!!!!!

I hav'nt been on the forum for quite a while but I heard today from a Poloris rep that Devere have pulled out of Roda and they are looking for another Hotel group to take it over, Has anyone heard anything?

Do you think this Polaris rep has got mixed up with the fact that Intercontinental appear not to be building at El Valle? 

Not heard anything about DeVere pulling out of Roda.

 

 

Does anyone know why the beach club has been stripped.  I was over last summer and it looked great.

I cannot believe that people are actually taking some of this information seriously.  I won't call it "idle gossip" as we don't know what will happen in the months ahead.

I am sure that most people will be aware that Polaris reps are 10 a penny.  They like to spread idle gossip about other more reputable resorts.  They do this to someone they know in the hope that they will spread it around a bit.  I am confident that they are not the only company to do this.  What I am sure of is,  it is a different type of client who buys in Roda as opposed to Polaris.

Take anything a rep tells you with a large pinch of salt.  I think in all our experiences in buying we have all been aware of reps being very ecomomical with the truth!!  

The beach club was opened last summer as Calidona had an obligation to Faze 1 owners. This was only a tempory facility until the 5* project is completed this Spring.

The planned opening date of the revamped beach club is June 08, but as we all know do not hold your breath.

Roda Devere  will still be running the hotel, golf course, clubhouse and beach club.

Calidona are responsible for the construction only.

We should expect there will be idle rumuors especially from Polaris World reps. !!

They  just cannot sell their properties for many reasons , not just the state of the economy.

Roda G&BR is going to be a GR8 5* resort, something PW will find difficult to match

All the fazes at Roda are sold out, even faze 4 where the footings have only just been laid.

Just a point of interest my sister in laws property is up for sale at La Torre, as she wants to relocate to Roda.

There is major reconstruction going on at the beach club, and still going on with people working onsite but yes, knowing Spain, there may be delays

Pools tend not to be fully serviced in Spain during the Winter, it´s too cold for us residents to swim, and mainly Spanish developements, like mine, close the pool and even empty it

RODA from a construction point of view and with the quality of fixtures and fittings superior to the La Torre and Hacienda Requelme sites, is about to open it´s facilities and you can actually walk from the site to the beach and lots of bars restaurants, with some very good menu prices

I believe that not everything at RODA has gone to plan, take the openning of the clubhouse, but at least they have told people

This will be a very good facility
