Has anyone had broadband connected yet?  If so what is your experience, how easy was it to get connected for English speakers, is it reliable and how much does it cost?

Thanks,

Jayne

Hi JayneB,

I live in Spain & have broadband from Telefonica at my main home (mini ADSL) costing 29 euros pm. I have just ordered broadband for my daughter from Europa, its more expensive 37 pm, but offers free router & everything in English (unlike telefonica). In a recent article in local paper here, Europa came out top of all providers, Telefonica was last!! Europa also have excellent call charges for landlines - about 80% less than Telefonica.

If you want any more info, just send me a message.

Mike

Sounds reasonably expensive for broadband especially if you are only visiting for a few weeks at a time. What does anyone on Roda  use if you take a laptop on occasional visits.
Last time we were there we only had a landline working and were waiting for an ADSL modem, would I still need to sign up to an ISP in Spain if I wanted internet access?

For occasional visits I would rely on free WiFi zones, I´m sure there will be some around Roda at some point?

Mike

Hi,

I have a property in Roda and am considering putting in broadband. I assumed Telefonica were the only provider so I would be interested to know of any others exist, such as Europa as mentioned by Mike below.

Thanks,

Steven

fyi, i used the movistar 3g dongle rental from the rentals office. Speed was ok. I was mainly replicating work mail, so did the job.
I think it was 8 euro a day.

Some of the 3G broadband providers are introducing 'pay as you go' dongles. Bit like the mobile phones.
'3' in Ireland have just launched it.

So this could be a good solution if it becomes available in Spain.
