Hi All,
We are following advice from various sources and looking at setting up a Spanish will to cover our Spanish assets i.e. our apartment in Los Olivos.
We were given a quote from the solicitors who did our conveyancing :
1. Legal fees to draft the will and forward it to a Notary Public in London : £150 plus V.A.T. per document.  2. Getting them legalised at the Foreign and Commonwealth office : £100 plus VAT (not sure if that's per person or total).
So that comes to at least £470 and possibly more .... seems quite a lot.

Has anyone else recently created a Spanish will and if so did it cost this much ?  Any recommendations on who to enlist ?

All the best
Dave, 2A

Hi Dave,

We have had a Spanish Will for a property in Spain for many years and have arranged an appointment with our Solicitor to update them when we come out to Spain in a couple of weeks. It is most important that everyone does this and because of the Spanish Inheritance Tax laws requires careful thought.

I can't understand why you have to go to the extra expense of a Notary in London and legalising it at the Foreign and Commonwealth office - unless you don't intend to be in Spain at all! It is much simpler, and I assume cheaper, if you can get the Wills arranged in Spain and legalised at a Spanish Notary.

Hi Dave,

My wife and I arranged wills in July.  They cost 140 euros each and it took one pre-arranged trip to our Sols in Vera which included a 20 minute trip to the Notary's office down the road.  Couldn't have been easier (Notary will need to see your passports).
